“One of the best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

Our stay in Hotel Calle Mayor was a highlight of our recent trip to Europe. Situated in Logrono, the heart of the Rioja area in Spain, this hotel was small, spotless, comfortable and really well situated in the old area of the city. All the attractions of Logrono are within walking distance including beautiful parklands, great tapas, markets, shopping and historical sites. We walked from the new and impressive railway station as we were travelling on a Eurail pass. The renovations to the centuries old structure have been done with style and attention to detail. A book detailing the renovation process is available in the lounge area. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel has only been opened a short time. We would go back tomorrow and will certainly include a stay in any future travels in the area.

This one-of-a-kind hotel is located right in the center of Logrono, yet in a quiet street. Perfect location for walking around the city, and just two blocks from the best tapas/pintxos bars and from the main plaza. While it is a state-of-the-art modern hotel the ceiling wood beams and main staircase are 400 years old - a great and loving restoration effort.
The room was very comfortable: a great bed, a wonderful bathroom.
The breakfast is a superb selection and of the highest quality - the owner was watching over it himself and explained everything, You can sense this man's passion to get things right.
We stayed only one night but plan on going back next year to use the hotel as basis for exploring the Rioja wine making region further. This was a great experience and offered very good value for the money paid.

The hotel is great - good location accessible to the old town, gorgeous room, helpful and responsive staff who arranged for us within very short time a local bodega tour....

Highly recommended, and will return in the future!

The hotel was outstanding and one of the best I have ever stayed in, The outside has kept it character and looks beautiful and on first impression on entering the hotel was very fresh and modern and above all spotless and i have to say by far the beds are the most comfortable we have ever stayed in with brilliant aircon and amazing large shower and fluffy thick white towls .staff are extremly helpful and friendly, Breakfast was most enjoyable to set you up for the day . The location was perfect with lots of Tapas and plenty of the good old rioja wines to wash the lovely Tapas down .Hotel has parking for a few cars around the corner which was excellent, but limited places so book this ASAP if you require a car space ..

We spent 2 nights in this lovely hotel with our 5 week old baby. The hotel is in an old building in the old town of Logrono (just a short stroll from the town square and numerous tapas bars and restaurants, but has been given a modern (and sympathetic) fit-out. The interiors are lovely and everything was kept in immaculate condition. We stayed midweek so I don't know if the weekend is noisier, but we didn't hear any noise at all - the room was incredibly quiet. The hotel has free secure underground parking just a 2 minute walk from the hotel.

The staff - particularly the manager - could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, including providing numerous flasks of hot water for our baby's bottles.

Breakfast is also worth a mention - a lovely selection of fresh fruit, freshly squeezed orange juice and a selection of pastries, cold meat and cheese.

We were very impressed by this lovely hotel - which is also very good value for money.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012

It was a lovely boutique hotel located in the centre of Logrono. Many bars and restaurants close by. The room & bathroom were adequately sized and modern. I liked the breakfast as well. Free public parking close by (on the same street), but hard to find a free space. But...

The noise! We stayed in Calle Mayor for one night only, but that night was a Saturday night in July. It was deceptively quiet when we arrived in the afternoon, but I did notice - and started to worry about - all the music bars and nightclubs situated on the same street as Calle Mayor. The noise in the street started at midnight and got gradually worse reaching its climax at 4 AM. Might be different outside weekends, but bring earplugs just in case and if you are a light sleeper choose another hotel.

This is a fantastic hotel. We just loved to stay there. Completely new hotel in an old renovated building in old town Logrono. Large and clean rooms. The staff including the director are service-minded and friendly. The breakfast is excellent. We look forward to visit this hotel again.
