I have stayed at the Governors Inn on a number of occaisons, always found the appartments clean and comfortable, The owner Clive has always been very accomodating for us as sometimes we arrive at unusual times.
The location is ideal for all of Gibraltars attractions and main shopping areas, some of my freinds have used other hotels in Gibraltar, but they now use the appartments as they prefer the flexible nature of self catering.
We will deffinately be booking again.

2 friends and I made a trip to Gibraltar towards the end of March 2012 for a short educational visit to the Rock.
The owner, Clive, is very friendly, offers great advice and makes you feel very welcome.
The apartments are above a printing shop on Governors Street, and so have a great location in the old town, being 5 minutes away from Main Street, Casemates Square, John Mackintosh Square, the Gibraltar Museum and other sights in this area, as well as being a convenient base for exploring much of the territory, with the Ocean Village Marina, Cable Car to the Upper Nature Reserve, and Botanic Gardens all being within a 10 minute walk. Also well positioned for a short uphill walk (15-20 mins) up to the World War II tunnel entrance on the Rock.
If you visit in the cooler months, the apartment can be a bit chilly when you first enter, but column heaters are provided and get the place cosy in no time.
We stayed in the first floor apartment, directly above the shop. The kitchen was well equipped and well stocked with new cutlery and was in a studio arrangement with a lounge complete with TV and two sofas that convert to double beds. The bedroom too was complete with a double and single bed, as well as wardrobes and drawers with the relevant bed linen provided. The bathroom was accessed from the bedroom and consisted of toilet, wash basin and bath shower, all clean and presentable.
These apartments are highly recommended and I would definitely stay again should I visit Gibraltar in the future.

OK, you pay some 50% extra to stay in Gibraltar compared to Spain. Governors Inn is cheaper than its competitors. Rooms are clean (except sofas look rather second hand), bathroom is very good. Owner Clive is very friendly and can give good advice.
Fridge and washing machine were top condition, but some of the kitchenware were rather bad. There were three remotes, but none of them was able to co-operate with TV (own adapter was needed to get power). Living room is noisy (one layer windows and narrow street) but close the door and bed room is quiet enough for good sleeping.
Parking on this area is difficult -or then quite expensive.
Still, this is good call if you want to stay nights in Gibraltar. If not prepared to pay 65£/night, stay in La Linea or Algeciras and just visit the Rock

For a long weekend these apartments are fine. They are cheap, clean and centrally located. Ideal for a stag or hen weekend. Ideal as a base for a family. Kitchen had a clean cooker, microwave, washing machine. Bathroom had a bath and shower again very clean. The apartments are located about 5 minutes from the main shopping streets.

Stayed there for 2 nights in August 2005. The appartments are 3 flats above an internet cafe/printing firm. There is one on each floor and we had the unfortunate "pleasure" of having the top one. The place was clean and fully equiped with large cooker, microwave and fridge. The general appartment was tired to say the least, but for £55 a night for 5 it was no worse that you might expect for the money.

Travelers are raving about these Gibraltar hotels

Not a bad place to stay if you just need somewhere to sleep. It is very near the town and buses although the streets are a little narrow and traffic is quite heavy. There were five of us staying, 2 adults and 3 children and we found that the space in the apartment was sufficient. It had a double bed and single bed in the bedroom with plenty of storage space and a large bed sette and a 2 seater settee in the lounge. It did get a little noisey at night with the motorbikes up and down outside the front of the apartment but that is Gibraltar anyway and you could pay a lot more in the hotel down the road and still get the same amount of noise.Overall it was well equipped and very reasonably priced. There was fresh towels and bed linen and the owner is just underneath in the shop if you have any problems. Clean enough and cockroach free. There is also a little grocery shop just round the corner which opens at 8.00am (most open later) which although small sells absolutly everything. Would stay there again.
