“Amazing Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

This is an amazing experience, today we walked up the rock and down the steps. Although the start is difficult to find, its near O'haras Battery, it is well worth the effort, and appears to be alot easier than walking up. Make sure you have the appropriate clothing and carry water. Entrance to the Rock's Nature Reserve is 50p for walkers, its only £10 if you want to explore the tunnels etc.

“This finds out if you are fit or not”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

This is an amazing walk/trek. The views and countryside take your breathe away and so does the climbing of all the steps. As in other reviews this isnt the easiest of walks and I struggled in some places. Make sure you wear clothing appropriate for this and also take plenty to drink. There are places to sit and watch the world go by and the silence is to die for. We paid to come back down via the cable car but the guide never checked our ticket ( you may try getting on for free )

“Awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

When we were researching this trip, many of the reviews had us feeling a bit apprehensive: would the climb up the rock be too hard for us? Would we get stuck halfway up and have to be airlifted out?

Was the climb challenging? Sure, it's a long hike up, and there are certain spots that cause you to use words that are sometimes not socially appropriate. BUT if you wear reasonable and comfortable clothes and shoes (read: no flip flops, heels, dresses, etc.), there is no reason why you can't climb to the top without having any problems. My wife and I consider ourselves to be in average shape, and we finished the climb in under an hour, taking the time for photographs, water breaks, etc.

There are two very steep portions of stairs, but they are separated by a twenty-minute switchback trail that is not difficult and very enjoyable.

The views are absolutely amazing, so make sure you stop and take a look every once in awhile. If you're looking for monkeys, you may not see them on your way up. We walked to the top, then walked over to where the cable car is, which is where we found all of the monkeys hanging out. We then took the cable car down, which is when we realized that we had made the best decision to walk up to the top. There is just too much that you miss by taking the cable car. We were happy, however, to take it back down because it puts you close to the center of Gibraltar.

“Stunning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013 via mobile

As per other reviews we decided to walk down only and it was great and not too exhausting. It was longer than expected and the views were amazing! Ropes are there to support on the most steep or tricky bits. Must do if in Gibraltar!
