“Nice hotel, but pricey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2011

I stayed at this hotel for a month while working in Gibraltar. It is very nice place with friendly and helpful staff.
The only drawback is the extortionate additional cost for internet access which isn't particularly fast. In this day and age this should be included in the already high daily rate.

I stayed here for 3 nights at the end of Feb. I got an excellent deal and for what I paid it was an absolute bargain. The hotel staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Special mention to Francisco who works in the bar and who had to put up with a couple of very rude tourists from the UK in our presence and did so with good grace and was never anything but polite and helpful.

Our room was plenty big enough and very clean. Breakfast is a buffet and all freshly cooked. The only negative thing I can think of to say is that the air con in our room was a bit noisy but after the first night we got used to it. The hotel is just off the main street and ideal for the bus around Gib and for all the nightlife, shopping etc.

All in all I would definitely recommend and we will be returning next year.

We travel a lot and it has been a long time since we have walked into a hotel foyer and smelled cigar smoke. "Oh yes" said the receptionist "Gibraltar hasn't yet banned any smoking". Well I guess, if you're a smoker, then this is the place for you. Everyone else might want to avoid it. Not the friendliest of reception staff, in fact quite condescending and dismissive. We had arrived here from a beautiful Seville hotel, so perhaps the contrast was just too much for us.

Just spent four very pleasant nights at this hotel. We arrived at noon on the Monday and were very pleased to be advised that we could go straight to our room even though official check-in time wasn't untll 2.00 pm, Room was a good size and very clean and tidy. Situated a matter of yards off Main Street the hotel was ideally situated and within easy reach of numerous cafes and pub grub bars. Hotel bar was very popular and busy most nights, If you have lunch in the bar take a tip. The snacks are huge and one sandwich/baguette etc split between two, is more than sufficient !

I was in Gibraltar with my partner for his 40th birthday and we had a great time.
Checkin was fast and the receptionist sent a bottle of wine to our room.
We were in 613 which had a nice view over the bay. The room was a good size, very comfortable and quiet. This might not be the same in the summer as the aircon unit was quite noisy.
Breakfast had a great choice including full English selections.
The bar was very comfortable and has music on a few nights each week. Bar staff all very helpful.
The hotel is literally two minutes walk from Main Street.
We used Gibraltar as a base and also visited Seville and Cadiz.

The room was to a very good standard and as I had read before staying appeared newly refurbished. Very comfortable & quiet. Mine gave a good westerly view over the bay with stunning sunset from the small balcony. Excellent buffet cooked breakfast but eat early as not a large restaurant. High season may entail a wait perhaps? Sauna was switched off and fitness room looked rather sad. Outside unheated pool. Internet logon cost was prohibitive- my only faults discovered. Pub opposite entrance as most pubs/tea rooms in Gib give FREE wifi in return for your custom. Bit mean of the hotel I thought. Smoking is allowed in bars in Gib regrettably for me as a non smoker but bars are friendly with real ale choices. Bus service is excellent and cheap. Buy a day ticket (£1.50). Cable Car to top of the Rock is a good bet £7.50 (£9 return) and is a must. It's a pleasant walk back down for fit walkers.

A short-notice long weekend away from the Manchester rain. Excellent value for a lovely room and very good breakfast, especially with the cut price, three nights for two deal with breakfast included. The Eliot is right in the centre of the city and very convenient for everything in that the majority of things are walkable! The staff were very friendly and helpful. We shall return.
