“perfect if you have a car”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

The hotel is far from the Santiago centre (about 7 km) but I knew that and this was not a problem since we have the car... Rooms are big and comfortable, parking is free....
Breakfast was more than adequate, so the stay was perfect... I did not have any trouble to go to the centre, but if you do not have a car, think about the taxi costs and maybe take the room closer to the centre for this amount

We received a large, comfortable, clean and quiet room in this elegant hotel and enjoyed every second of our stay. All this for an unbeatable price. On-site parking is free of charge.
The hotel is indeed a bit far from town, which I knew from beforehand. There's a bus stop about 1 km from the hotel, but certainly in weekends, not too many buses pass by.
We didn't eat in the hotel, so I can't say anything about that.

Although a bit far from the center and the cathedral, this hotel offers a high quality. The staff is friendly and very helpful. A bus into town costs 1€, a taxi is only 10€. The rooms are spacious and very clean too.
The view from the rooms on the first floor is not so hot, ask for a room higher up.

Room Tip: Don't take a room on the 1write home about.st floor, the view is nothing to

This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. Staff do not appear to have been trained in customer service, and none of them understands any English. The rooms are large and clean but the food served in the restaurant is variable. We found that a dish served one night was completely different when ordered the next night, and bar staff did not know what a gin and tonic was! Breakfast was very boring. Worst of all was a disco in the bar which went on until 2.30am, and when I rang down to reception to complain, the manager thought I wanted to book an alarm call!

, Customer Service at Hotel Congreso, responded to this review, September 8, 2011
Dear Customer,

We appreciate the time you took to give us feedback regarding your recent stay with us, both pros and cons, as all comments are important to us in our continuing efforts to ensure for our guests' satisfaction.
In regards to your comment about location, Hotel Congreso is located 5km far from the city center, this information can be checked on our website as well as other booking websites. Most of our guests choose Hotel Congreso because of the quiet area, natural surrounding and the opportunity to make day trips and excursions to the many fascinating places of interest in this region.

As far as the gym issues, the hotel offers a small fitness room. The gym was installed under the request of some customers who stay long periods at the hotel. That is the reason why It has the basic fitness equipment and we do not charge to the customer.

In relation to the taxi fares, we cannot set them as they are independent companies offering their services to different hotels and individuals. Hotel Congreso is pleased to arrange a taxi to our customers convenience and inform them about taxi fares average. We can ensure you that the price you paid for a taxi is the standard one. Besides the taxi option, there is a public bus that goes to Santiago de Compostela that costs around 1,50€. We are sorry to hear that you wished a lower price but we cannot change the city prices.

We strive to provide each of our guests with an exceptional stay and we assure you that what you experienced is not the standard that´s the reason why we are sorry you felt your experience was anything less. We really hope you will not let this deter you from staying with us again. We do hope to see you.

Regards,
Vanesa Rodríguez

It is not very easy to find the hotel, since it is in Montouto, far from the city center. The room was big, good for big families althought the smell of cigarettes on the room was awful. A big variety of food on te breakfast, but the dishes were a little bit dirty. It has free car parking.
