“No customer service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2011

This cheap budget hotel is located in the old city surrounded by the sights but it operates more as a restaurant/diner. Don't expect a warm friendly welcome or any help or advice while staying here.
In saying that the rooms are very clean, beds small and you get the privacy of your own room for a reasonable price. Nice change from a 4-6 bed dorm room. No air con or pool or terrace only the very basics. Oh yeah and no soap so bring some if you decide to stay here. Ask for non-smoking unless you like the smell of super stale smoke.

Room Tip: Second and third floors would be quieter.

After searchibng in vain for an hotel (we had no reservation) we were glad to find this. The price was modest, and the locality is very good. The room was clean, but there it ends. The room was very small, but we could live with this. Much worse; it had no cooling, and the outside temperature was 30C. Even worse, the noise from outside was unbeareable. We had the choise, either have the window open and get no sleep due to noise OR close the window and have no sleep due to heat. We tried both and got very little sleep.

Another, more cool time of the year it might have been OK for the price - in summer not!

This place was the worst of our 2 week trip through Spain and we stayed at some seriously budget places. It was over 90 degrees and did not offer a fan. I am not sure how a place can say they have two stars and not have at least a fan. The room smelled of sewage with views into another apartment building window. I guess there are rooms with a view, but clearly we were not in one of these. The window had to be left open due to the unbearable smell and heat and we were kept awake most of the night by the terrible echo off the apartment building across the alley from the plaza just steps away. Hair was found on the pillow so I question if the sheets are changed nightly. TV was broken and the women that run the place were very unfriendly. The best part of the place was checking out the next day.

Room Tip: ask for a view of the plaza

If you're looking for a business class hotel with lots of amenities, then Hostal Noria is probably not the place for you. If you're looking for the best location in Tarragona and a budget-friendly price tag, then look no farther. Hostal Noria is located on Placa de la Font, the most bustling square in Tarragona. There's great food all over, people-watching galore and you're smack-dab in the middle of everything. Several rooms have small balconies overlooking the square, and the bathrooms are very large by European standards. We really loved it. Also, there's a small restaurant/snack bar on the ground floor, if you need a quick breakfast or bite to eat.

NOTE: it helps to have a few Spanish phrases, or even better yet, some Catalunyan, if possible, as the proprietor doesn't speak much English. But we still got great service every time we needed something.

Pros.Good location for exploring the old town situated on a lovely square which had loads of lovely places to eat. Was clean

Cons. Rooms were a bit cold with the heaters only coming on late at night. No bed side lamps. No breakfast included in the price

Overall it was perfact if all you want is a cheap and clean place to say.
