On a positive the hotel is in a great location with amazing views (obviously depending on your room) and there is a real relaxing beach bar. The centre of Sitges is a bit of a walk away but the walk to town is enjoyable.

The hotel gives you the impression that 'it's a shadow of its former self' for there are elements of glamour and opulence everywhere. The reception are was a bit dingy but My room was better than I had expected after seeing the reception.

The hotel could be amazing with a little bit of 'TLC!'

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room. I could see into some rooms being cleaned and they looked as if they had...

The hotel Terramar is a mixture of faded elegance and Strong Catalan design. We had a room at the back of the hotel and the balcony looked out over a large park and natural area towards the mountains. We were quite happy with this.
However the plumbing in the bathroom is a bit old fashioned and it is very noisy when you flush the toilet.
The hotel is in a lovely setting opposite the beach at Platja de les Anquines. This is sheltered by a horseshoe shaped sea wall and this makes it good for swimming and safe for children. Also it's much quieter than the beaches nearer to the town centre.
The swimming pool faces the sea front with a view of the beach and is about 23 metres long (1 metre deep at the shallow end down to 4 metres at the other end) so it is good for regular swimmers like us. There is a good bar next to the swimming pool.
We stayed half board and we had the choice of four different menus depending on which restaurant we sat in. We were given far too much food in some cases. Mostly it was very good.
We found the staff charming and helpful and we really enjoyed our stay. Sitges is a lovely resort and we plan to return and to stay at this hotel again.
We stayed for 10 days and really enjoyed it. We also thought that it was good value for money.
We were lucky enough to catch the annual Catalan festival in Sitges and I would recommend it - at the end of September. Much more fun and much less crowded than the bigger event in Barcelona - the Merce - which we also saw the following day.

1 One tip is that this hotel doesn't change money and you are a mile away from the nearest cash machine. If you run out of cash as we did, you have to walk along the sea front for a mile to get to it.
The little seaside road train runs along the front every half hour and costs 2 euros.
2 If you buy a 10 euro ticket from the inside the train station at Sitges this gives you 10 rides on the bus locally from the station to the hotel. This ticket can also be used on the metro and the buses in Barcelona as well. It's easy to get into Barcelona for sight seeing and it takes about 40 minutes on the train to Gracia station.
3 The Monbus from the airport to Sitges costs 6 euros and stops at the railway bridge near to the station, you get the blue local bus to the hotel from the station in Sitges, which is near the Monbus stop.
4 There is a small supermarket in the hotel Golf two doors along from the Terramar which is quite useful for snacks.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms at the back are smaller the higher up you are. However, the rooms at the back hav...
