“Good to sleep and shower”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

Hotel is very basic and is ideal if you just want to sleep and shower....rooms are simple but clean...the breakfast is not worth even tasting so avoid....but they do give you a free drink voucher to one of their other hotel property PLATJADOR HOTEL which is very nice.

The El Cid is a keenly priced hotel, clean and well kept, under the watchful eye of Tony the manager, who is always trying to make improvements, central and convenient for everything in the town centre, - You can walk here from the train station,
It has air-con in the rooms, black out curtain (essential after those late nights) breakfast served til midday(continental) and a small pool to laze around if you have no strength to make the beech, Good for a single traveller as it is where you get to meet people....Rooms are cleaned everyday along with fresh towels. if you are unhappy they will try and move you to another room , get you extra blankets/ pillows etc I have been here many times now and get treated like an old friend returning .
Try and request a room overlooking the pool or side street ! manageable in off season, but in high season they get completely full
For the price, location and general cleanliness and helpful staff you cannot beat it ...

El Cid is a wonderful hotel, it is conveniently located in the town center, close to the sea. The room in which I lived was quite large, well ventilated, there was a large balcony. In addition, there were supplied such amenities as a good TV, large wardrobe, air conditioning, which we did not had a chance to use, and blankets, which were very useful, because I felt a bit cold at night. The hotel has a lift, so rooms were easyly accessible by lift. Breakfast was also excellent, with plenty of various cakes and champagne. The food was tasty, with standard choice of juices from the machine, fruits, melons and watermelons, as well as tea and coffee. I liked that for a deposit of 15 Euros you could take a huge beach towel with a pocket where you can put anything you like. You can also use umbrellas, but they were not needed. Personally, I would recommend this nice hotel.

Nice hotel. Reasonable price and good location. Close to the railway station, not a long way from the sea. I was a bit worried at first that a check in time should be till 11pm, but having called to the hotel I`ve been assured that they have a 24 h reception so check in is possible any time at night. Various trifles such as beach towels, welcome drink at the bar on a sea side promenade, free luggage storage and possibility to take a shower after checkout on the day of departure make a stay here more comfortable and memorable. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. They served good breakfast. Hotel is kept clean and there is even a small pool on the premises. The room I`ve stayed at although not big, but clean and equipped with all the necessary. There were TV, aircondition and a balcony. This hotel exceeded my expectations and I would like to recommend it to other travelers.

The El Cid hotel in Sitges is a really nice economy type gay hotel, without being cheap and seedy.
It is right in the centre of town, close to all the action and walking distance to everything.
The rooms are a good size and not too cramped. I had one with a balcony, which was great, making the room light and airy. The bathroom was also modern and clean, but with no shower curtain - this made things a bit messy when taking a shower. The breakfast room was one of its best features....very spacious and with plenty of room, even at peak times of the morning.... no bunrush and being elbowed out of the way.....and where else do you get champagne for breakfast! By the way, breakfast is included in the already cheap tariff.
The Staff was always pleasant & helpful....but it might pay to brush up on your Spanish, as their English is basic and you are often subject to a barrage of incomprehensible English.
However, I did miss the more personilised service of the Parrots Hotel for example.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony.

I agree with everything everyone has said positively about this hotel. It's a seventies gem and brought back fond memories of childhood hols on the costas! If you want all mod cons and 5 star service ( and prices) then avoid, leaving those of us who appreciate the quirkiness of a bygone era to stay here. Position is excellent between station and beach. Plenty of food and bar options on the doorstep.
