We booked our stay almost 12 months ago and we arrived at the Antemare with some trepidation having read discouraging reviews, we can't believe it's the same hotel! The staff were welcoming and our room, though not the largest we've had, was spotlessly clean and had plenty of wardrobe and drawer space - and a huge terrace. The aircon was very efficient which was just as well as the outside temperatures soared to almost 40 degrees.
The bar and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful and encouraging when we spoke with them in our halting Spanish. The bar/lounge area was clean, comfortable and welcoming and prices for drinks were very reasonable, cheaper than bars in town. The stylish modern restaurant served splendid continental breakfasts, though "full english" was not available. At lunchtime and evenings there was a varied menu with a superb "value for money" fixed price menu available - though translations were sometimes quirky! The food reflects the local specialities and was beautifully prepared and presented.
The pool area was well provided with sunbeds and parasols but could get busy in the afternoons, for those who prefer to swim in the sea the beach was only 3 minutes walk from our room.
Having stayed in Sitges twice before we appreciated the quiet location of the Antemare and expected the 20 minute walk to the town and station.
We had a fantastic two weeks stay and would recommend this hotel but it will not suit those who want to be in the thick of things in town, who are not adventurous eaters and are not willing to embrace a different culture. For us it remains a little gem!

The hotel is situated in a residential area of Sitges, with a very short walk (approx. 5 minutes) to the beach. The town center is about 15 minutes away. First impressions of the hotel entrance and the reception area are good, some recent refurbishments provide a pleasant and modern look. We soon discovered that the modernisation work had unfortunately not reached all areas of the hotel yet...

The room we got was quite small, the furniture and wall decoration looked very dated. Biggest disappointment was the cleanliness of the floor and room overall, quite a lot of dust was scattered around. It almost seemed as if nobody had been using the room for quite some time. We asked the reception to clean the floor the next day, but this message apparently never reached the cleaning team. So the dust remained our companion for the length of our stay.

The walls and doors of the rooms on our floor were very thin, we could here a lot of 'interesting' sounds and voices during days and nights. After some time we got to used to it, but the Antemare is certainly not the place to stay if you are looking for some quietness and relaxing silence. Contributing to this judgement was also the frequent appearance of the garbage collection service close to our room's balcony.

Positive points:
- Short walk to the beach
- Pleasant and modern reception & restaurant area
- OK value for money

Negative points:
- Cleanliness of rooms (!)
- High noise level
- Room interior and furnishing very basic
- Lack of customer orientation and friendliness of staff

Overall, the Antemare could do a lot better, but failed to deliver against his 4 star rating. We would give it a maximum of 3 stars. We would not return and can not recommend the hotel at this time unfortunately. On the other hand, you could do a lot worse for the amount of money spent.

This hotel was an incedible disappointment. After travelling for 3 months we expected a wonderful 4 star resort. What we got was a 2 star shambles.

The photos on their website are not even slightly reflective of what you get when you arrive. The rooms smell and are of an incredibly low standard.

The staff are rude and have obviously never had any hospitality training. The location is ok.
The only way I see this as being a 4 star hotel is if there is a mirror next to the 2 stars.

Do not stay here! Go to Sitges... its magnificent!

The Hotel Antemare is situated approximately 10 minutes walk along the seafront from the main centre of Sitges and the adjacent beaches with sunbeds. The hotel is clean , quiet and ideal for those seeking a quieter holiday.Unlike some reviewers my experience was good.As a single traveller my room was to the rear and fairly small but perfectly adequate.The satff were friendly, especially so when I became ill near the hotel during my stay.Their level of care and compassion was admirable. Sitges is a very pleasant old style Spanish resort full of restaurants, clubs and bars at very affordable prices. The cost of rail transport from the airport is €2.40 changing once at El Prat - you do not have to go to Barcelona Sants to change. With many attractions nearby I did not stay around the hotel very much but everything was clean and functional.Its a six Euro taxi ride to the centre of the town. Recommended.
