A friend and I stayed here for a week towards the end of June 2008. The hotel is described as a 4 star but I really disagree with this and would describe it more as a decent 3 star. It's also a good 10-15 minutes walk into Sitges, which was fine, but towards the end of the week it did feel like a real effort trecking into central Sitges for dinner each evening.

It seemed to be one of the few hotels in SItges with a decent pool and garden area, which meant we didn't feel obliged to go to the beach every day to get some sun.

Overall the hotel is good, breakfast is all you can eat buffet style, and the room was fine (although I think we had one of the worst balconies in the whole hotel!).

The one thing that did at times let the place down was the staff.... notabley the ones that looked after the poolside bar. Seemed really unwilling to serve us (strangely), not that helpful or friendly. Guys behind reception were nice enough though. Also the cleaners would wake us up every morning as they didn't seem to think it was necessary to keep the noise down in the corridors at 7am!

I think I would recomment staying here, but be warned about the distance into Sitges and the staff.

Just back and missing it already. Yes we stayed in a suite in the older part of the hotel and it was wonderful. To put right some points from previous reviews.

Its ,miles away from the town (20 minutes)

Its the worst - get a life although I think we sat next to the myster shoppers children as all they did was moan, of course its full of forigeners its Spain for goodness sake or is it just the english who are supposed to holiday abroad?

In saying that the rest of the people there were great, staff were great only problem we had was room service was a bit cold one night but nothing like some others have written.

Look if you don't like it stay away - I hatte people who have such sad lives they have to slag off others to get a good holiday.

We stayed in Sitges over Christmas, i have been there several times before and it has always been a great holiday. It is a great little resort and just 25 minutes on the train into Barcelona. This was the first time i had stayed at this hotel, we did so on good recommendation from friends. It was one of the only hotels open in Sitges over the Christmas period and as a result not many of the restaurants and shops in the resort were closed. However, some of them were and when we had done those we headed into Barcelona for dinner which has plenty of choice.

At the Maritim Subur the reception staff were great, rooms were clean, central heating in the rooms was in perfect working order. However, breakfast was a tad painful! The breakfast buffet was poorly stocked and most of the time the waiting staff were no where to be seen. However, things picked up as we headed toward New Year and more staff came back to work. I would say the hotel is great value for money, and is in a fantastic location i would not hesitate to recommend it. We loved Sitges at Christmas!

Staff seemed friendly and room nice although from reading the other reviews it seems we were lucky largely because we ordered a suite. The suites are in the old part of the building (must of been a former mansion) whereas most of the rooms are in a concrete tower to the side of the old house.

Room was clean and bathroom large. Whilst the room was considered a suite, I personally think that is an incorrect title as there was no separate living room as one would normally expect.

If in Sitges again, would definitely consider staying here again.
