I needed something other than Spanish food after a week in Spain. We took a day trip to beautiful Sitges and found this restaurant, sat outside on the patio in the glorious sun. The service was very quick and attentive. We'd left Barcelona in a rush without breakfast, not even coffee. Asked and received in record time outstanding cappuccinos which we sipped while reading the menu. We shared several items, a salad (the Claudius, consisting of lettuce, arugula, radicchio, cherry tomatoes, goat cheese), the Fusilli all'Arrabbiata (tomato sauce, bacon, chili peppers), and something I order frequently, Eggplant Parmesan. All were equally outstanding - the salad was especially fresh tasting, the pasta hit the mark with the right amount of heat from the peppers, but my personal favorite was the eggplant parm. This was prepared in a way I've never had it before; the chef took thin slices of eggplant, cooked (baked, sautéd?) it, and then topped it with the freshest tasting tomato sauce I've ever eaten. This was not a heavy dish, very different from the traditional American eggplant parm, and I will try to duplicate it at home.
We were too full to have desert, although they looked yummy. Noticed others sharing pizza, which also looked good. The staff speaks English (and Italian, as the owner/chef is from Italy) and indulged me in practicing my limited Spanish. Nice setting that will nicer when the city finishes their beach improvements.
