“Very good choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013 via mobile

Perfect service (multilingual), very good food, spicy as you prefer, good portions, modern and pleasant decoration.
One bad point : some of the deserts not homemade, like in most restaurants insitges. Example : cheesecake and fondant chocolate probably coming from the factory.
But they also offer deserts with a traditional indian cooking (the lassi)

“Average Indian Food with the most rude service in Sitges!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013 via mobile

This restaurant looks lovely, very contemporary for an Asian Restaurant. We were seated and had high expectations that the food would live up to the decor. Unfortunately things started to go downhill when we met the waitress. A lovely looking lady who I would say was probably Spanish, dressed very stylishly, she matched the restaurant really well. Unfortunately it soon became obvious she had never trained in customer service. I have never met anyone in this capacity before who has the ability to respond to every word you speak with simply a nod or a forced smile. She literally said about 3 words to us during the whole meal, totally bizarre and a little unnerving. I actually thought she might be deaf when we first met her but then we saw her laughing with the chef. On the plus side they had a good selection of drinks including Cobra beer which Britsh people like to see on the menu. So onto the food....we had Popadoms to start which came with Mango Chutney on its own. We eat in Asain restaurants regularly all over the world and usually Popadoms are served with a variety of dips including a tray of chopped onion which happens to be my friends favourite. We decided to ask the mute waitress for some onion and a complex request like this prompted the owner to appear. To our surprise she appeared to be British and she was most confused with our request. She asked whether we wanted the onions to be fried or raw and commented that our request was unusual! The only thing that was unusual was that the Popadoms didn't come with the usual condiments including a a dish of raw onion. It made me wonder if she eats in other Asian restaurants herself at all, quite bizarre. The curry was distinctly average, chicken Tikka Masala was a thin watery tomato sauce more reminiscent of a pasta sauce and the garlic nan was pretty average with a lack of butter. On the plus side my partners Prawn Thai style curry was more tasty and he enjoyed it. As there are only two Indian restaurants listed in Sitges this is probably about as good as it gets. It smacks of amateurs to me and I would say if you can do without a curry until you get back home, do just that. DISTINCTLY AVERAGE!

Hi Nickanddan, thank you for visiting Chai and your subsequent review. We being in the service industry understand attention to detail & good service. However, sometimes it is easily misunderstood that being in Spain everyone must be able to converse in English. I would implore you to recognise that our cliental are mostly Spanish and our waitresses are native Spanish speakers, who are constantly making an effort to learn & converse in English for the occasional English only speakers. So it is surprising (perhaps not) that you vising Spain could not understand why the waitress was not able to engage in fluent English. On that note, we were brought up in the country where these dishes originated from and as such feel we are qualified to discuss their authenticity. For your learning, unless you go to some greasy spoon Indian restaurant in chav city serving fried Mars Bars on the side, you will generally not be served with only sliced raw onions with Poppadoms. It was taken a special request that we were happy to fulfil.

“Not very good!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

Ate here last year and enjoyed it. Tried it again tonight and was dissapointed. Very small portions, chicken tikka masala was like tomato soup with spice and lumps of chicken, cheese nan bread wasn't very cheesy. Won't bother again. Last year I had dessert and they had no cheesecake left so paid around 5 euro for a kiwi sliced up with a bit of honey and coconut sprinkled on I! Safe to say we didn't bother with dessert this time.

“Indian jewel in Sitges”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

Be sure to visit Indian restaurant Chai when you're in Sitges: the food is great, light and fresh ingredients and home cooked specialties (try the mango cheesecake, it's superb). The atmosphere is clean and modern and the staff is super friendly. Really recommend this one!
