“Day trip to Montserrat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013 via mobile

We almoat did not go there but are so glad that we did make it. The train ride and the cable car in of itself make it worth the visit. The monastery is beautiful and it is just mind boggling how something so wondrous waa built so high atop a mountain. A must see if you are in Barcelona for 3 days or so and can spare the time

“Beautiful scenery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

It was so peaceful up in the mountains, and it was gorgeous too. We drove and parked, it was only €5 for the day. There were many people up there, but it's almost a small town now, with plenty of shops and eateries, and it never felt crowded. The views were stunning and the Church and buildings were amazing, very serene.
You can get there easily from Barcelona by train, and then there are two funicular railways to travel on - all reasonable prices and lots of fun.
Highly recommended.

“worth the trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

Go early to avoid the heavy crowds. The mountain has awesome views and it would be worth your time to hike up or down the mountain.

“Stunning site”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

We took the train up the mountain - about the most impressive short train trip you'll ever take - and did a quick tour of the basilica and a short walk to a nearby viewpoint (with the black cross). Very impressive interior, a dramatic setting, views all around. I found it totally worth it.

“Fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

My trip to Montserrat was ironic as I hate hiking and dislike heights, however the first time I went there I was blown away by the view. It is incredible, I hiked for 5 hours and got to the top of the mountain, one of the best feeling. You also get to meet internationals hikers and mountain climbers on your way up who are nice and the place is directed, you get a map and has signs all over.
