The hotel is situated in the heart of the old city, perfectly located for strolling the cobblestones, with the cathedral and Arab baths close by. Rooms are spacious and clean. We had a room with a balcony facing the street and were not bothered by street noise or chiming bells. The hotel is decorated with embroidered works and paintings created by the couple who first renovated the hotel in the 1960s and their obvious love and care is being continued by their daughter, who now runs the hotel. Bellmirall is an authentic delight, including the beautiful courtyard garden where a simple breakfast is served.

The Belmirall, tucked into the narrow streets of the old city, a few steps from the Girona’s cathedral, is an absolute delight. Now in the hands of the Gisela, the daughter of artist couple who started this hotel their medieval stone house in 1961, it has been freshly painted, has gleaming wood floors, new embroidered monogramed bed linen and sparkling bathrooms. The whole place speak of Gisela’s love and care for this family concern. The walls are hung with her father's paintings, the beautifully embroidered dining room cushions are her mother's work.
This is no boutique hotel, rigged by designers to look old and authentic, this is the real thing. And yes, of course you will be woken by bells, what would you expect from a place that close to a cathedral?

This is a nice authentic hotel with spacious rooms. The hotel is situated in the historic centre, which means that there is no parking space close to the hotel. You have to walk for like ten minutes. The breakfast is simple but good. The staff was really friendly and an speak english and french.

I stayed in this hotel with my husband for one night. It is a charming little place located in the heart of Girona's ancient neighborhood. If you go by car like us it can be a bit uncomfortable because you cannot enter the historical center and you have to leave your car outside. Also, if you have heavy luggage it can be hard as well, as you have to bring them up the small climbing streets of Girona and also up the stairs in the hotel, as there is no elevator. We were given a small room with the bathroom outside. The room was cozy but he bathroom was way too small and really uncomfortable. There was hardly any space to move and there was no soap in the shower. there was only some soap in a fixed dispenser in the room, where the washing basin was...so you were supposed to take the soap in you hand, cross the corridor and get rid of you clothes in the bathroom trying to avoid splashing the soap all over before you get into the shower...or alternatively go naked from the room to the bathroom... The breakfast was complete and good, and it was served in the small internal garden of the building. Overall it is a nice place but I found it to expensive for being a 2 star hotel that actually offers the comforts of a 2 star hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid the room with external bathroom.

Our room was small but had a balcony that gave onto the street. The manager, Cristina, was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was lovely. What else? The hotel has some special nearby spots for parking if you get their parking pass to display. We found the church bells to have a marvelous deep pitch - I was quite surprised how soothing they were.

Okay, by now you have read that the church bells ring every 15 minutes 24/7. Just take earplugs if you are a light sleeper. We loved the place. We had a room with a balcony so we could people watch. Free wifi in the lobby. Dont know that I would recommend a car. Streets are narrow and Bellmirall is hard to find.
Cristina was great to work with and she speaks English. We do plan to go back

We stayed in this potentially really lovely hotel. It is in the old town and very charming with great character. Very good location but very hilly so not suitable for older people or if you have any injuries that hamper climbing big hills!

The down side is the noise of the church bells and the private bathroom that they forget to tell you isnt actually attached to the bedroom! My girlfriend was furious as they never said anything about that when booking and there was no difference in price to bedrooms with bathrooms attached. We really got the bad room. We later noticed not everyone had to leave their bedroom to go for a shower and the exit plan on the back of the door showed us and another room as having separate batrhooms. Still very annoyed.

The church bells ring all through the night and not just on the hour. We were lucky we had ear plugs in our suitcase and we used them both nights.

The hotel was very clean. Breakfast at €7 was a bit expensive. Taking everything into account though we wouldnt stay again. Watch out when booking you dont get a bedroom with a separate bathroom!
