“Visit to Girona”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

Booked using Trivago for the first time. Was thooughly surprised. Lovely hotel, friendly staff and excellent cleaning. In the heart of the city right next to the river separating the old town from the new town. Would definitely stay here again. Beautiful

Lovely modern hotel perfectly located to explore the old town, the Jewish Quarter, the Cathedral and then to get a taxi for dinner at El Celler can Roca. The staff were very courteous and helpful. Parking is available a few minutes away for 22 euro.

This stylish modern hotel is discreetly situated just off the main shopping street. A two minute walk to the river and across a footbridge takes you into the heart of the atmospheric old city. The main tourist attractions were all within walking distance. We particularly enjoyed walking around the city walls which have panoramic views. The Cathedral, Jewish Museum and Arab Baths were all worth visiting.
Our room was comfortable and well equipped with multi-channel tv and free wifi. Staff were friendly and helpful. We would recommend this hotel to other travellers.

Like pretty much everybody else who's reviewed this hotel, it ticks all the boxes. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast. Quiet, comfortable room. Perfect location for visitors to Girona. Would we stay there again? Absolutely.

The hotel came well recommended by a friend and he certainly got it right. The choice of hotel was particularly important as I had my parents with me and so I needed to be central yet quiet. It needed a lift ,more for me than them but more importantly I wanted them to love Girona like I do and so everything needed to be just perfect, and it was from the minute we arrived and were greeted so warmly at reception to the minute we left. Service by all staff was attentive without being pushy. The room on the second floor was quiet, light and airey with a nice bathroom with nice products and towels. We tried the restaurant on the first night and the food was very nice and the service was excellent.
The location was superb a very short walk to the old town, ideal for me and my parents and the flower festival was beautiful if a tad damp but hey even the weather couldn't have damped my enthusiasm for such a fantastic weekend .Thank you to everyone at the hotel ..super stay!

Room Tip: We had two rooms on the second floor and they were quiet, cool and lovely. No views but by the time...

Using our trusty GPS, we drove into Girona from the Costa Brava in early March, a blustery day.
We quickly found the Hotel Ciutat de Girona, where we were immediately helped with our
luggage, clear directions to their garage, and a comfortable room with everything we needed.
The staff at the hotel is exceptional, always helpful(bravo to the woman who runs the breakfast
service in the morning!). Understated warmth and hospitality-am not sure how else to put it
but it was what we always look for and often do not find.
The hotel is located in the new part of the city-shops, restaurants and an incredible film museum. Steps away, you cross one of many foot bridges to the old city and enter a different place and time-the wall, cathedral, walking the Call, the double staircase, all amazing.
Wish we had stayed another night!

A smart modern hotel in a brilliant location..........less than a minutes walk from the pedestrian bridge bringing you right into the heart of the old town, and just a stone's throw from the lovely Placa de la Independencia. Despite it's central location there is no traffic noise, as all the surrounding streets have only very limited vehicle access; and the hotel's double windows, each of which in turn is double-glazed, ensures no outside noise penetrates.

The rooms are comfortable and well equipped, but seem to be considerably smaller than the 27m sq mentioned on the booking form, and also seemed quite dark during the day. The bathroom was relatively large in comparison, and had every toiletry you could think of except the fairly essential body lotion.

The hotel has a stylish restaurant, Blanc, which is very busy, especially at lunchtime when it has an excellent 3 course meal including wine for €10.30 (Mon to Fri).

The hotel is about a 15min walk, or €10 taxi ride from the railway and bus stations; and we paid €30 for the taxi from the airport............. the airport bus only costs €2.55 but unfortunately only runs every hour.

My only real complaint is that when booking I requested a room away from the elevator but was actually assigned one directly opposite! When I asked for a room change (and referred to my original request) I was told that the hotel was very busy and the only available rooms would incur an increased charge, so we had to put up with the sound of the lift every time it was in use which was very annoying!

Room Tip: Corner rooms (ending in 2) seem a little bigger than the other standard rooms, and also have 2 windo...
