“Pleased with our choice”

Hotel Peninsular

Travelling by train, we picked the Peninsular partly on its location, within walking distance of the train station and very close to the older section of Girona. We were very pleased with our choice, not only because the location served our purposes very well, but also because the room was clean, modern, and comfortable and the breakfast excellent. Front desk staff were courteous and helpful. The only aspect I would complain about was early morning street noise (garbage collection), but it was a minor problem. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

“Beaut hotel”

Hotel Peninsular

Mar 5, 2008

We chose this hotel from Trip Advisor reviews. It is perfectly sited, halfway between Girona station and the old town. Reception was wonderful, very efficent and helpful, even printing out train timetables for us. The room was immaculately clean and the included buffet breakfast quite good though the croissants seemed to be just dough! However the rest of the offerings were fresh and tasty, and the coffee machine produced very good coffee. In a weekend saw far too little and am looking forward to another stay at this hotel.

We stopped at the Peninsular for 2 nights in February. Paid just over £60 per night for bed and breakfast.

Location is absolutely superb - just two minutes walk from the old town and numerous bars and restauraunts. Also near to train / bus station.

Room was clean but very basic.

Breakfast was OK. Continental buffet style and it was quite possible to eat enough to fill you up for the day.

Staff were friendly and helpful. On the final day we had an early flight home which would have meant missing breakfast. We asked if it would be possible to have breakfast early which we were allowed to do. Although not all the breakfast items were ready when we got downstairs, it was much appreciated to be able to get a coffee and a couple of cakes before departing.

I would describe the Peninsular as a no frills hotel. Everything is fine but apart from the location it is not special. However, it does come at a no frills price and if you want extras, you will certainly pay a lot more in Girona.

Just back from Girona well worth a day or two trip.
Will return to the Peninsular BUT it could be so much better, its the location that means you put up with the rest.
You walk out of the door and within seconds you are walking over the bridge to the old town,FANTASTIC.
AS for the hotel do not expect too much, room small, needs decorating, smallest bath I've ever seen. That said room clean and tidy.
No bar in hotel but one right next door, breakfast very continental but adequate.
Free internet but no printer so beware if you have to check in online you then send your boarding card by e mail to the hotel.. sounds easy but the whole internet e mail bit is in Spanish!!
Managed in the end, reception were not very helpful but did help after I failed to send e mail a number of times.
Fair value
