Excellent Hotel - Excellent and friendly staff.

Some people have said it is too far out from Girona but if you take the left hand road it is a 15 minute 'stroll' !!

On arrival there was a problem with the window shutter - they changed our room immediately.

Breakfast was excellent ! - Good variety - not as hot as I would have liked but, hey - this is Spain !! - even the 5 star hotels serve breakfast 'warm at best' - HOT coffee, Cava, 'Tarta de Santiago' !- what else could you require? - If there was any problem with anything, they would cook it for you fresh!

I cannot fault this Hotel - Swimming pool area small but very private and as the Hotel does not have that many rooms, there was always room to sit outside.

OOOppss ! - sorry - only one fault - complimentary tea/coffee WAS available but it tasted awful and only plastic cups available which melted when you put in the boiling water - I took my 'little' kettle so all was well.

Yes, - it is on a main road but it is not that noisy and the sound-proofing was very good.

I would DEFINITELY stay there again - In fact, I have adopted it as my 'second home'

More than a short walk from town centre, cost 35 Euro to get from airport to hotel on a Sunday night with two passengers. Used public transport to get back and cost about 10 Euro. Nice hotel, great breakfast, well worth having as it keeps you going for the day!! would have to recommend same for short stay.

Cool place, a little off the beaten path. We rented a car, so didn't have a problem. The hotel is quiet, clean and nice. Staff friendly and helpful. The shower is a little wierd, no shower curtain, just a large piece of glass covering half the shower area, so floor can get a little wet. The beds were ok, not the best, but hey we were there to sight see and by the time we got back, we were wiped out and had no trouble sleeping.

“lovely breakfast”

Hotel Costabella

Aug 20, 2007

we stayed at the costabella as it was the only one in gerona that we could find with a pool.

the room
the room was lovely, air conditioned with shutters that completely block out the light which was nice as we stayed at the start of the holiday when my body was still on "work time". the bathroom was nice with a lovely shower and spotlessly clean pure white towels.

breakfast
breakfast was served until 11 which was good. there was a machine with about 4 types of coffee and pure juices. a wide variety to suit every taste of food, fresh fruit, meat cheese, cereal yogurt, eggs and pastries. we asked for eggs when there were none left and they were cooked immediately and brought to our table.

the pool.
not massive but very nice welcome respite from the heat. the sunbeds are modern. and there's a nice canopy if you want some shade. there's no bar at the pool but there is a machine and you can also go inside to the bar and bring a drink out.

nice touches
there's free tea and coffee in the afternoon, again you can take this to the pool. the hotel has a computer with free internet access.

inside the hotel
it's all marble floors which are continually being polished.

distance from city
it's a good 15 min walk into the city which seemed like forever when we didn't know where we were going but we soon got used to it. having a pool made up for the distance.

gym / sauna / jacuzzi
this is free but it is only small. again just a nice touch as something extra

staff
extremely friendly and welcoming. a nice bowl of fruit on reception.
we paid less tha £70 per night. well worth it

“Very good hotel”

Hotel Costabella

Jul 25, 2007

Stayed here for one night on route from Barcelona to France. Booked a family room for 2 adults and 2 kids directly with Hotel. All e-mails answered quickly and the price beat all offers elsewhere. Room was actually 2 fully seperate rooms with 2 double beds, 2 tv's etc but with connecting door. Room was very high standard as was the service from reception Staff who were excellent and guided us into Girona via a very safe 10-15 minute walk. Buffet breakfast the next morning was superb with a huge choice of hot and cold food for all tastes and in lovely bright room. Kids enjoyed the outdoor pool the next morning which set us up for the day.

All in all a very good hotel and a perfect stop off point between Barcelona and the South of France.
