“Brilliant location, nice staff, but not that nice apartment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2011

Been there for my birthday's weekend, and the price was reasonable since the location is just brilliant. But then... you pay 25 euros extra for 'cleaning' and the night we arrived we had to contact the staff at the hotel because there was food left in the kitchen's counter. We would have cleaned it, but the sponges had already been used (they had a dark colour), so are we supposed to clean ourselves with a sponge that has been already used after paying the 'cleaning' fee? The smell of damp in the bathroom was just appaling and the shower's drain didn't work at all. And above all, if you need to leave the place in an emergency, you can't do so without your key because the front door downstairs when closed won't open since there is not openig button in the inside and there are not instructions about how to do in the event of fire or another emergency. Also, no microwave and no oven in our apartment, and the little room with the ironing board smelled of fish (we even looked all over the place to check if somebody left some food in it). Nice idea, nice location, but the owners should really improve some all these things (and maybe authorities should have a look too).

This was possibly the best apt. I have ever had. It was spacious, incredibly furnished in keeping with Girona's medieval tone, fully equipped and best of all - the four person balcony with table and chairs!
Altho we arrived after midnight this was not a problem at all, and the woman simply escorted us, and let us be (we officially checked in at the Hotel reception a few steps away the next morning - where the services was superb. This woman could not do enough for her customers. Coffee? Use our hotel free internet? warned that a concert might keep us awake the next night we were offered another room but ours was too perfect and there was no concert anyway. also offered free passes to the concert!)
it was extremely quiet in fact, old building you can see the perhaps 17th c. details artfully left, high dark beamed ceilings, full fridge and great set of dishes, glasses, etc (unusual) all utensils, microwave, kettle, a TON of towels and blankets at our disposal - there are 2 pull out couch beds in the Big living room plus the very large double bed in the bedroom. I reserved what was to be a 4-person room but I believe they gave us the best which could be for 6 easily. huge wooden table with 6 chairs to dine...but we sat out on our balcony all the time, so pleasant.
Location is perfect - since in Girona you only want to be in the Old Town, there are cafes and restaurants (go straight down the street to the right from the entrance, pass the church piazza and there is a small shop to meet all your needs, just a little further a tiny pub with great take-out sandwiches.
It is a hike to the train/bus station - 20 min? but very reasonable once you know where you are. Connections to everywhere (Barca, Figueres) are quite convenient from here so I highly recommend it as a base. Simply, perfecto!
the only tiny irritation was that they do not give you ANY soap in the bathroom. Not even a bit of handsoap so you must bring your own. amidst such otherwise luxury (and it didn't matter how many people in room, price the same) it seemed a petty detail. Yes, there was even ice in the freezer... Highly recommend
