“Would stay again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2011

Stayed in the 4* part for two nights as a group of 4 friends. The location and cleanliness were second to none. Comfy beds and fantastic showers and at 72 euros pp for 2 nights, excellent value.Coupled with cheap Ryannair flights, this made a very enjoyable and cheap short break.
We went out for breakfast round the corner in the Placa de la Independencia, a lovely coffee and chocolate croissant for less than 2 euros.
I would highly recommend a visit here, the old town is lovely and a walk along the city walls provides some stunning views not to be missed!

A group of us stayed at the Gran Ultonia in October. Firslty, when you search this hotel you get mixed reviews as there is a 3* Hotel Ultonia and 4* Gran Hotel Ultonia in the same building! They share the same reception and bar, i guess the different floors represent the different class of hotel. We were in the Gran and the rooms were great, flat screen tv, had an english channel on there so was ok. The bar is nice. The Bathroom is the best feature of the room. There is a massive walk in Shower with a powerful showerhead.... i could have spent hours in there! Not sure you would get this shower in the Hotel Ultonia. Breakfast is 12 euros, we were leaving early so didnt stop for this. The car park is 15 euros per day, same price as the local car park acros the road. The location is great, easy walk to the old town which is very pretty. drinks seemed pretty cheap around Girona. There wasnt a lot of restaurants around, just lots of cafes. However, we found 2 across the road from the Ultonia which were nice. Staff could have been a bit more friendly and upbeat on reception. The beds were lovely and the pillows were so soft! The only thing that may wake you is the church bells which i heard faintly at 3am and 4am, though they did sound as if they were some way off.

Room Tip: Go to the Hamburger Restaurant across the road for food, they have a selection of Tapas and Americal...

We stayed three nights in this very modern and comfortable hotel. The location is excellent for touring Girona and the staff were very helpful...their restaurant recommendations were superb. Rooms are a good size, clean, and enjoyable. We opted to go out for breakfasts as the hotel is rather expensive in that category.

This hotel was the perfect base for our 4 night trip to Girona. It is a 10-15 minute walk from the bus/train station and a 5 minute walk to one of the bridges that take you across the river and into the old town. Other reviews do not lie when they describe the bathrooms.....spacious, clean and with a fabulous walk in shower complete with 'raindrops' type shower head! Just what a body needs after walking around the sights of Girona for a day. The only disappointment is that the rooftop bar and solarium is only open on Friday and Saturday evenings after September. It would have been good just to be able to go out there to read in the late evening sun. Free water and orange juice appeared on 2 of our 4 days stay. Breakfasts were plentiful and staff were friendly and efficient. What more could you ask for!!

excellent amenities and friendly staff. Parking at £15 bumped it up a bit. Breakfast, though quite expensive (12 euros), was amazing - was there nothing they hadn't thought of providing?

Great location, very close to all the main sightseeing areas and restaurants. Lovely room and really appreciated the free bottled water and the orange juice in the fridge. Free WiFi, helpful front desk personnel. Was looking forward to going to bed early in that nice comfy bed but once we discovered the lovely open air roof top bar it was no longer a very early night. The shower was superb! I want one just like that at home:) It was like being at the Spa in Baden Baden with those humongous shower heads. The smoke alarm was directly over the bed and blinked quite brightly, enough so that it made me put the pillow over my head. Neverthless, I'd stay here again.

Room Tip: My friends had a room next to the elevator and they said it was quite noisy.
