“Fantastic base for visiting the Costa Brava”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2012

Excellent base for visiting the Costa Brava. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Cant rate this hostel any more than excellent value! Good facilities, kitchen for cooking, sharing fridge, sun terrace and chill room had a brilliant time and will definitely visit again. Its a 10 minute walk to the Station and Bus Station but right in the heart of the Jewish Walls and Cathedral. Lovely place lots to do and see in the area. Beaches are approximately an hr away by coach but with a fare of 5 euro's or less its a far better option than being in Loret De Mar or Tossa De Mar and you have some lovely architecture and places to visit and eat in. Definitely worth a visit!

Room Tip: If you get an option rooms 101, 102, 201, 202, 301 and 302 are at the front of the building so have...

When it comes to the location, it couldn’t get any better. You are right in the center of everything (and I literally mean everything!). The place has a nice feel to it. The rooms are spacious, well lit and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. There is a great roof terrace, ideal for sun bathing, breakfast or an evening beer. Real bonus! The only downside is the breakfast. It’s tasty but it isn’t well thought through. At least one kettle or one more toaster could make such a difference! Hot water is brought in flasks that are filled in with a hot tap water at the kitchen sink (yes I know, hard to believe, but I had seen it with my own eyes!). If you happen to come down too late to use one of these TWO flasks that are shared by ALL, you are left with no option but to ‘microwave your tea’ (if you manage to elbow your way through to it!). There is only one toaster that in a pick of my stay there had to be shared by about 25 people. All in all a pleasant experience but the way the breakfast is handled should change. Despite the breakfast, I would definitely recommend this place.

The hostel was very clean, perfectly located in the touristic area but also near the bus and train station, the desk people were really nice and helpful, and it had a great common room and terrace--it only lacked more tourists!

The hostel was clean and beautiful, I actually had a 6-bed dorm ensuite only for me for a couple of days at the end of last year. There was some free stuff in the kitchen and their breakfast included different things.
Some people in the staff spoke much more Catalan than Spanish, even when I talked to them in Spanish, so I struggled trying to understand Catalan and didn't feel free to ask them for further information. I was mentally tired, but missed some towns and came back to Barcelona earlier mostly because of the staff. Besides, some of them smoked things you can't believe and, as the front door opened automatically, the smell was terrible inside.
Wifi didn't work in the dorms.

Loved this place. Right on the edge of the historic quarter, and next to the river. A nice little grocery store is nearby. A tasty bakery is next door. Hostel has nice beds and great common areas. Highly recommended. Staff were lovely.

We stayed in this hostel for 1 night, everything was perfect in it. The location was great. The staff were very friendly. The only thing that we didn't like that much in our rooms was the lighting. The room was a bit dim. but on the whole it was a great hostel!!
