“Great Catalanian food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2014 via mobile

Familiar restaurant, nice atmosphere. Pick your choice of 1st and 2nd plates to go with a nice Cava and a limón sorbet in the end.

“Relaxing and spectacular...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2014

I have only four words for You: croquettes, chutney, duck and red-berry-sauce! These dishes are spectacular. And everything else looked (and smelled) delicious. The owner is warm and generous. His place is so comfortable that we are returning for dinner tonight. An outstanding feature was that the meals were so well done and also a good deal.

“Give it a try”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2014

It's worth eating here. From the first welcome we really enjoyed this meal and what great value. It's occasions like this when Tripadvisor really comes into its own. A 15 min stroll from our hotel was rewarded with some excellent food served in a really friendly establishment.

“Great experience in a cozy place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2014

La Taula is just a few steps form a hotel I was staying for MWC and went there with friends for dinner - per TriAdvisor recommendation. It was one of the best places I have discovered thanks to the "show best nearby" feature.

La Taula is small family restaurant celebrating 20 years on market which speaks for itself. We were seated down by the owned who is real pro. He was unfazed by us showing up so early for Spain (8pm is too early apparently :), we got our drinks, bread and fine olive oil and about 30 minutes later the chef arrived on his motorcycle.

The special thing about La Taula is the "secret menu of the day" for 30 Euro including red or white wine. We got some goat cheese with dark sausage which was great. The second course was veal steak made to perfection with sweetish sauce... I loved it.

The dessert was not as good as previous courses I have to say - it was a good apple pie, but there was noting outstanding about it unlike the first two courses.

What made it one of my best experiences was the waiter-owned. It was such a delight to see him work and take care of us and others in his packed restaurant. He rearranged half of the room to accommodate friends who came late and then some couple waiting for a table... It was obvious that he cares - even if we may have been a bit louder than the usual clientele (that would be the best place to go for a date), we were taken care of in royal manner.

If you happen to be in Barcelona, the restaurant is quite close to the Guell park - if you plan to visit the Gaudi masterpiece, combine it with a great dining experience. You are welcome.

“A Gem Not to be Missed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2014

I am writing this review right after dining at La Taula. The food, setting, the service were marvelous. Francesc was an unbelievable host who took exceptional care of us, and our entire culinary experience from the moment we stepped into his cosy restaurant. The vegetarian was good to average. However, the meat and the fish mains from the surprise menu were LOVED by the rest of the dinner party. The strawberry cream cake baked by his wife was delicious. I have never had this kind of service ever before in any restaurant, and I have had a fair share of eating out during my travels. Let me give you some examples - he noted that I was drinking very little wine as I am almost a teetotaler and made his guesses to pull out a locally made old fashioned soda that was in production for decades(on the house). He noticed that one of us was blocked in and without our asking (as it was quite manageable), he efficiently rearranged the surrounding tables to make sure we were comfortable. He made my dinner a success - so much so that one of party said it was the highlight of their Barcelona trip. He was funny, passionate, and shared the right level of trivia, family stories without seeming to intrude/interrupt our conversations. Thank you La Taula and Francesc. Do not miss this gem of a place!
