“A great veggie restaurant in Barcelona - a real MUST!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

After finding Sesamo on this website (I tend to use it frequently when travelling!), and after its positive reviews, I decided to give it a go. Being vegetarian in Spain is a real challenge!
I arrived there around 21:30, and the back dining area was full, so next time I go, I will be making a reservation. They accommodated me in the front bar area, so had to sit at a small table with a bar stool. Not their fault by any means, but it was a bit uncomfortable.
Knowing in advance about the seven choice sampler, I opted to order a la carte instead.
I had some lovely, medium red wine to drink, although their signature drink seems to be gin and tonic, made with any gin you'd like. And they have many vegan options as well.
As a starter, I ordered the fried mushroom croquettes. These were simply scrumptious. And with four of them, the portion is satisfying. Very rich flavour, almost like fried porcini balls, the outer shell had the same crispy consistency as falafel. Wonderful.
I ordered the puff pastry parcel for my main. It was light and flaky, with a layer of a light ricotta-like cheese sauce under the lid, followed by a mixture of vegetables, the dominant one being summer squash. It was cooked to perfection, served with a side salad.
I didn't have dessert as I'm not a dessert person. I would recommend this lovely little place to anyone who likes vegetarian food, if you're not a veggie! The staff was friendly and accommodating! All for E21.50. A real deal.

“Great veggie restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013 via mobile

We visited this restaurants without appreciating it was vegetarian. We opted for a tasting menu, but the regular mains were very appealing too. This was a great choice and would certainly recommend. The owner/manager was very friendly and attentive to all his guests too.

“Cozy place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013 via mobile

We tried the 25euro tapas, it was a great way to experience different tastes. The chef chooses 7, small dishes, that came one after the other. The first was not so good, it looked like soup, came in a soup bowl, but it was cold strawberry and basil...strange mix, but after that all the other dishes where great, had a bottle of wine, and you get a free drink included in the 25 euro tapas meal. So our first pint of larger was free. Nice atmosphere and nice friendly staff..I loved eating here, knowing it was fresh and in a meat free environment...also good selection if your vegan, including a range of vegan deserts. Worth a visit for all vegi lovers

“Great vegetarian restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

This restaurant is highly recommended, it has a very cosy atmosphere and is a perfect place to go to dinner. A tasting menu is availble whereby you can have a total of 7 dishes inclusing dessert and 2 glasses of wine for 25 euros. The main menu is also very good. The waiter is attentive and explains each dish to you. It is a very cozy place, a great find and perfect for vegetarians.

“Great food, grumpy waiter”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013 via mobile

As a vegetarian its hard to find anywhere to eat in Spain, let alone get a good meal, but sesamo was delicious. The chef was great and provided half the service himself, but the grumpy waiter detracted from our overall enjoyment. Would go again, for the food.
