Barcelona is a city with a vibrant offering of restaurants and it is not that hard to experience out-of -this-world meals on a regular basis. Still, one of its shortcomings is that such a cosmopolitan city has few places to sample great Asian cuisine. Places offering elaborate Thai dishes that are far from your average take-out Pad Thai or tom kha ga mom and pop place, and that also keep away from the over the top Asian luxury restaurant experience.
The Indochine offers a welcoming ambiance with a beautiful interior filled with orchids and candles. Its menu brings together an eclectic mix of Cambodian-Thai-Vietnamese delicacies.
My all time favorite is their Vietnamese ravioli....just delectable! Other fun appetizers include nems and deep fried shrimp tails. All their curries are very good across the board, and more exotic dishes worth trying are their Cambodian meat Lok Lak, Vietnamese shrimps witha a perfectly balanced tamarind, lemon grass and ginger sauce. Their fried rice is to die for.
I am not too keen on their Thai desserts but Indochine does have a great variety of sorbet flavors like green apple, passion fruit, mango etc.
I am a regular at Indochine and can avouch for the consistent quality of their food.
You will get the bang for the buck. Lunch or dinner for two costs around 68 euros.
Service is always accomodating, friendly and without frills.
It is the kind of place to visit when you have eaten all the tapas in town and need a change, to go for a romantic dinner with your beau or just to splurge and enjoy a great meal.
