“Great Food, Great Atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

Dined at Cuines Santa Caterina on a recommend from our hotel receptionist and we weren't disappointed. The restaurant doesn't take bookings and, if you wish to eat late at prime time (9.30 to 10.30), you need to be prepared to share a table and to queue. We chose to eat at 8.30 and did not have to wait. There is a buzz about the place which we found enjoyable, "casual frenzy" probably describes it as well as anything albeit we didn't feel rushed before, during or after our meal. The food is an eclectic mix of cuisines and everything was beautifully prepared and cooked. The wine list includes Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc which they sell for 26 euros, most restaurants that carry it in England ask £65+ for it, so if they've got it in stock, knock yourself out !

“Nice place to eat - Fresh food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

This restaurant is next to the market allowing them to purchase fresh food. And it is fresh. Nicely prepaired. A good restaurant for lunch. The admosphere is style French brassery, spanish style. Open kitchen.

“Excellent option near Barcelona Cathedral”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013 via mobile

One of the places you can't miss if you are in Barcelona. It is really close to Barcelona Cathedral. They do not take reservations so better go early.
It is not a classic restaurant. As I said they do not take reservations. Plus they may seat you in a sharing table and waiters even if they work hard they provide a casual service.
However I really recommend this place. You will get delicious food and you will enjoy the market environment.

“Nice surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I came here on recommendation from our guide on a fat tire bike tour and were pleased we did. We got tagliatelle with prawns & chilli (?12), aspargus with romenesco sauce (?8.60) - which was actually a mistake by our waiter (language confusion) but we had it anyway and were pleased we did, plus the grilled calamari with asparagus (?11). We were really happy with all our choices and sitting at the bar could see all the meals coming out which all looked great, and all empty plates going back.

We felt the venue offerred great value for money and excellent quality, particularly when you compare it to the crap they try to serve you on La Rumbla. Highly recommend you try it. Oh and we had no problems getting in, came at about 9:30pm though.

“Great Food, great service, great ambience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013 via mobile

Our receptionist at Suites Avenue Luxe, where we stayed, recommended we visit the markets as we were looking for somewhere that the locals shopped at. The markets were a foodies paradise manned by genuine people who are passionate about their products. We decided to have lunch there and chose Cuines Santa Caterina. Brilliant choice. I had the fish special which was turbot, pan fried served on a bed of shitake mushrooms and also Calamares with asparagus - both these dishes were superb - fresh and cooked perfect. My veggie half went for a tomato and mozzarella salad and a special rice and vegetables dish (which we both enjoyed as I got to try). They also threw in a serve of mixed olives complimentary. We had a choice of seating but chose to sit at the bar - good choice as we got that little bit extra treatment from the chefs and the waiter behind the bar. Place was bustling inside and out, full by the time we were leaving and crowd looked pretty much 90% locals.
