“Really nice hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This is a great place to stay in Barcelona - it is in the heart of the historic quarter, it's quiet and modern. The staff is great - very helpful and friendly. Wifi is excellent and they have a computer station with a printer. There's a rooftop pool and hottub as well as an exercise room (though with all the walking you'll be doing there's no need to work out!) They have a beautiful breakfast buffet - not cheap but if you get it for your whole stay the price is reduced. Food is not cheap in Barcelona so the 10 Euro isn't bad.

Excellent location, very good value for money, very comfortable beds, efficient and friendly staff, great breakfast. Would definitely recommend. Didn't use the fitness facilities but they looked good.

I stayed at Catalonia Avinyo after working at a conference in Barcelona. On arrival the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. I was given a room (507) which was inside facing. When I got to the room I was freezing and couldn't turn the aircon off so had to call reception, when someone came to look I was told the only way to do this was to flick the switch off in the fuse box inside the room (not the safest option). After turning this back on we realised it didnt actually work and it was releasing hot air. As we had no window to let in air we asked to be moved to a room with a window. We were told we couldn't move and would have to pay if we wanted to be moved or wait until the next day where rooms might be available as they are fully booked. We were also told that there are windows in every room regardless of if they are outside facing or in a corridor. The man at reception told us that as it was November the air conditioning only has a heat option even though the day before it was freezing. As well as the air con and having no window the light in the bathroom was hanging out of the socket and there were stains all down the wall in the room. The next day we were finally moved free of charge to a room with a door which could be opened (which was available the night before), the room still had faults but we looked past this as it wasnt as bad as the other room! Other than all the problems we had with the rooms, the hotel is in a very good location but I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you want a light airy room with a window.

Extremely pleasant, helpful and courteous staff. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, very comfortable bed. Great breakfast with lots of choice of hot or cold food. The location in the gothic quarter was superb. We recommend the Hotel Avinyo and will most definitely be staying there next time we visit. This hotel and its staff made our visit to beautiful Barcelona just perfect.

Ideally situated in the Old City (Ciutat Vella) in Bari Gotic, this is where you want to stay in Barcelona. Close to metro Liceu and a short walk from La Rambla. Super friendly staff. Very clean. New rooms. Comfortable space, great bathrooms. Fast and always on WiFi. Superb location. We are actually considering returning next year! We were on our honeymoon, had a lovely offer for breakfast complimentary! If you are looking for a center hotel in Barcelona, just book Aninyo.

This hotel is very good.
It is modern and trendy, and very quiet and comfortable at the same time.
The location is perfect, in the beautiful Barri Gotic, very close to La Rambla and Plaza Real, with plenty of pubs, shops and attraction within five minutes walking distance.
It is also very close to the Liceu metro stop.
Highly recommended.

We stayed here based on the location and it's in the best part of the Gothic Quarter. The hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

The rooms are clean and the size was not too bad. Bathrooms need a litte refurbishing but overall are ok.

Unfortunately our first room was in the middle of the hotel therefore there were no windows to the outside world to let fresh air in. This room was overly hot and because there is no fresh air the room smelt damp. We asked to change rooms to one with a window and it was perfectly fine and we were much more comfortable as the room wasn't as hot. The rooms are quiet as we didn't hear the other guests. The bed was a little firm (for us) but not too bad. Pillows are also comfortable.

Wifi works well with a good signal and no drop outs. The TV has a few English channels.

When you leave the hotel turn right and there is a small grocery mart for bits and pieces you may need. Walk about 5 minutes further and you will see a restaurant on the left called Agüelo. Go there! The food is absolutely fantastic! We had dinner three nights in a row it was that good.

Avoid restaurants on the main streets as most are not traditional Spanish food and you're going to pay more.

I'd tell anyone to stay here.
