“Unforgetable!!!!!!!!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2009

My boyfriend proposed to me upon a Bus Touristic at Placa Catalunya ....How can I forget Barcelona? Soho Hotel , a very modern decorated boutique hotel was what we wanted. Room 65 was quiet, with nice view, very clean with all that mystic athmosphere that makes relaxing a great pleasure. The personell was very polite, never forget Alexio....I would stay back any time visiting Barcelona in the future!!!!!Anna, Athens Greece

We stayed at the Hotel Soho for 4 nights in the end of september. We did find the Hotel perfect for us and for our stay in Barcelona.

The design and interior is exciting and quite modern. The room had a lot of space and contained all we needed. We did choose a room to the street. Traffic noise doesn't bother us. But if You are sensible of traffic a room on the back might be the best? But with room facing the street You can have a look at the Gran Via and watch "life" and notice the difference from morning - mid-day and night. We like that!

We didn't have breakfast at the hotel. But there is a café/choccolateria/bakery right across the street. They have coffee/choccolate and all kinds of pastries. A perfect way to start the day.

The location was perfect for us. Just a walk away from Plaza de Catalunya. Or a short ride with the metro. The nearest Metro station, Urquell, is less than 100 meters from the hotel.

What a pleasure. The Soho hotel was a gentle and nice surprise; after traveling all day, we were met by very courteous and helpful folks, and went to our outstanding room. The ultra-modern Soho is right in the middle of everyplace we wanted to visit & Metro is right outside.
We figure that we had the nicest room in the inn. We were on the top floor (except for the roof-top pool and solarium area above us), and had a hugh terrace that overlooked the city and Montjuc. The room is a delightful sojourn to tomorrow with glass walls separating the shower from the bed. They also offer a pretty decent breakfast that we took advantage of every morning, and a business-internet area in which we caught up on our email. We will return to the Soho every chance we get.

Had a lovely post cruise stay here last week. Checked in early, as ship disembarkation was around 9am. Taxi from cruise terminal a breeze, around 15-20 euros. Erika and kind staff very efficient, very helpful with our suitcases, which they locked away, with a ticket system for retrieval. Made us relax and feel safe. Also a good safe, set in room wall, for our cash and passports - v. secure. Bed was large and very comfortable, room spotlessly clean, very boutique/modernistic decor, really cool! Small pool on roof, great lounging area with sunbeds and sofas to relax on, great retreat after hard couple of days exploring the city. We think the location, close to the University, is actually way better than Las Ramblas, as you are already in a cosmopolitan area, nearer to the classier shops at the top of Las Ramblas/Placa Catalunya. Easy for Las Ramblas, but also much easier to walk to the Passeig de Gracia to see the Gaudi buildings on the Ruta Del Modernisme, and the REALLY expensive shops!!! Breakfast was great, Soho is near many restaurants, and directly opposite one of the best/tastiest patisserie/pastry shops we have seen in a long time. The roadworks, prevalent all over Barcelona, seem to be almost completely finished last week, and should make access to the hotel even prettier and easier. Staff booked us a taxi to take us to airport which arrived smack on time. All in all, thanks so much Erika and all the staff for your kindness and for a wonderful relaxing stay - we heartily recommend the Soho!!

The Good
Cool room, with push button lights and shades.
Nice size room.
Cooperative front desk.
OK location.

The Bad
We asked for and received an early check-in time since our overnight flight arrived at 9 AM. After bringing our bags up to our room, we settled down for a much needed rest. As our heads hit the pillow, we were jarred by the sound of a jackhammer right outside our window. We called the front desk and were given a room on the back side of the hotel, which was quiet....until after 10 AM when the locals across from the hotel decided to have a loud party. We asked the desk if this was normal and they said that they have had to call the police before but it didn't do any good.

No bellmen to cary luggage.
Only two English TV channels (CNN and BBC).

The Soho is a very nice, clean and modern hotel but it lacks a bit of the 'personality' that Barcelona is not short of. It is stylish but feels impersonal. I could not fault the very charming and helpful staff and the room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. I was disappointed to discover that the double bed was twins put together - no double bed - and we were too tired to requst a different room! So much for the romantic weekend! The breakfast was lovely and the staff were very prompt in replacing anything that had run out. There is a lounge but it was deserted both nights we looked in. We liked the hotel but if we were returning to Barcelona we would look for something closer to Ramblas and with a bit more atmosphere. (And a large double bed!!!)

The room (32)was very spacious , light and quiet overlooking the small park at the rear. The road works continue at the front so it may be a little noisy there. We loved the design throughout the hotel but yes, only share a room with someone who is happy to be seen naked through the bathroom glass wall ! The breakfast was absolutely fine but it was included in our deal. The staff were helpful although we didn't need much assistance. The pool is tiny but the deck area looked very attractiveThe location is a plus and a minus - at times I felt it would be better to be somewhere slighter closer to the galleries, gothic quarter etc but my partner felt it was a big plus to be a little distant from the hubhub and in a more classy area. So everyone to their own taste.
