“Unique Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

We stayed two days prior to a cruise. It was our second time in Barcelona. It is a lovely boutique hotel and the positive, young and helpful staff make it a great experience. They upgraded us to an executive room as it was my husbands birthday. The room and the breakfast was very nice. It is a little far from attractions, but we took the chance to check out the vicinity. It is very close to metro. The Aerobus stops at the University stop which is very close to the hotel.

Stayed here as a solo traveller on a 3 day tourist visit to Barcelona.

Location: Superb for both Urgell metro stop basically outside Hotel, plus 3min walk from Aerobus stops both to and from airport.

Lots of decent restaurant's and bars round about Hotel and a 24hr supermarket next door.

Hotel: After an initial moment of confusion of where the actual front entrance was, I was met by a lovely helpful check-in experience and was quickly on way to dump my bag in room before it was even 12noon. This was perfect for allowing me to quickly freshen up before my busy day ahead.
The 3 different staff members I dealth with over the 3 days were very polite and helpful and even accommodated my random request for a sewing kit a 3am one morning.

Hotel is as described numerous times as modern-chic feel with some nice touches.
Room was certainly spacious enough for me (Room 35) and better than what I`ve experienced in many other European cities.
Wifi decent and the odd TV channel to assist on the flatscreen TV.
Mini-bar in room stocked with all the essentials. Only addition that would have been nice would have been tea/coffee making facilities but not a bit deal.
In-room safe available too.

Bathroom facilities were great including powerful shower over bath.

Room was facing onto main street but with windows closed I had no issues with noise and the blinds certainly provided adequate prevention of early morning sunlight.

Now, the reasons I didn`t give it the full 5 stars:

1) Could not get aircon to operate at all. Possibly turned off due to winter season, but the 1st day I arrived it would have been nice given that it was what I would class as a summers day. The next few days it wasn`t really required but would have been nice to give a blast to get rid of the slight "stuffiness" in room.

2) One of the 2 windows available for opening had the handle broken off which prevented it from being open.

3) Lack of available power sockets and awkward location of the couple there was.

4) Lack of storage options. A few pieces of furniture in room which are modern chic look that could have been better used with drawer storage options in them. I`m sure you can still do modern/chic with drawers on units and bedside tables.

I didn`t bother with breakfast at hotel so can`t comment. Preferred eating on the go, exploring a fabulous city especially in great weather conditions for January whilst there.

Had a quick peek at the rooftop pool and seating area. Very nice feature and wish I had got time and warmer season to have relaxed up there.

Overall, I had great stay and would definitely return on my next visit, although I doubt I`ll get it as cheap as I did this time.

We stayed here in January'15 with my hubby and our 4 years old daughter. The staff were very polite and helpful, the room large enough for three of us and the breakfast plentiful. Having squeezed Orange juice in the breakfast ticked the last box on our list:) The location is perfect with the transportation network. It took only half an hour, 2 stops from the airport and it has got a metro station a few minutes away. It takes around 10 minutes to walk to La Ramblas, but it is a pleasant walk as there is a lot to see around. There are coffee shops and supermarket around, so you are not short of anything. The hotel is quite modern and pleasing to the eye. There is free WIFI and a room with computers if you don't want to carry yours with you. I would definitely stay again

A pleasant surprise considering that the website does not demonstrate the hotel in the same light as the effort made in the internal design and overall welcoming service.
Well located, making access to and from the hotel easy for holiday makers who are not familiar with the area.

Loved absolutely everything about the hotel! Lovely staff, excellent service, amazing rooms, great location. Would rate the hotel way more than 3* and coming back again in 3 months. Definitely suggesting to experience their hospitality!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the community garden offer great noise isolation.

Generally this hotel is very nice and in a good location BUT the room given was very loud.

I booked a basic room which was internal and ultimately leads to the room being noisy. We did ask for a quiet room prior to arriving and the front desk clerk did his best but it didn't work.

The problem seems to lie that the internal opening of the hotel opens out onto a park so a lot of nearby sound from the street and the park makes it way up the internal walls.

On an assumption (which staff can likely confirm) if you were to book an outward facing room (with view) on an upper floor, you'll likely not have this problems.

PROS:
- Nice modern rooms
- Mood lighting
- Very well cleaned
- Good staff

CONS:
- Too noisy at night. Didn't sleep well over 4 nights.
- Lack of practical lighting (bathroom mirror area not very well lit) and storage.

Room Tip: Book an outward facing room.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We’re sorry you didn’t find it to your liking.
We pride ourselves on doing everything we possibly can to ensure that our guests love their time with us and we’re so sorry that was not the case for you.
Although our double-pane windows are specifically designed to reduce noise, we are in the heart of Barcelona and it’s normal to get some street noise.

Looking forward to welcome you back very soon!

Kind regards,

Reception Staff

The Soho hotel is a modern and smallish hotel within walking distance to the heart of Barcelona. The staff is super friendly and helpful and will answer any question you may have. There is a metro right across the street, but you can walk to almost anywhere within 15-20 minutes including Ramblas, Plaza espana, Gaudi buildings, shopping, etc. The neighbourhood has the right mix of quite areas and livelier spots where you can get a drink/dinner. The breakfast at the hotel is a must - yummy/plentiful and a few dishes vary from day to day - and sooooo convenient! Only down side to this property is the bathroom ventilation - the whole room seemed to get steamy each time I showered : ( I mentioned it to the desk and hopefully it was just a faulty vent fan in our room. Otherwise, a great hotel. p.s. (nothing to do with the hotel) be vigilant with pick pockets in Barcelona!!!!!Especially on the metro.

Room Tip: The standard room was fine, but I would recommend upgrading to the larger suite.
