“A very good location to stay when exploring Barcelona.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

The second time this year in this stylish renovated hotel was again a real pleasure. Not only due to it's perfect location between the nicest old neighborhoods of the city, but also because the relaxed but service minded attitude of the staff.
In summer you can enjoy the marvelous top roof pool, now we were only able to.use the rooftop terrace..

However, the breakfasts let you down big time. Runny scrambled eggs and also way under cooked fried eggs. The warm breakfast was not so warm, in particular on our last day, it really was cold. Come on guys. This really let's the hotel down! Tea/coffee making facilities would be a good idea for the beautiful rooms.. Apart from that, it is a beautiful hotel, great location with a great roof top area, amazing views!

Thank you for your honest comments about breakfast. I have already spoken to the staff responsible for making your experience so negative. I am sure other guests felt the same way so it’s good that you spoken up for the rest. I can assure you that this won’t happen again and please receive my deepest apologies. I have made a note about the tea and coffee maker in the room. Looking forward to welcoming you again.

With Regards,

G.M.

The Hotel is very well located and puts many areas within short walking distance. The service is very good and everyone was very helpful. I found the rooms to be tight however everything was of good quality and nothing coming apart. This is a modern sleek looking hotel in a an old area and they have done it nicely. Breakfast was included and was very good. I did not have dinner nor use the pool. The one thing I would warn about is that the rooms are either give on the busy Via Leitana or on small alleys and if you are unlucky and have some night dewelers sit and talk in the alleys at 3:00am even the double windows will not keep that noise away.

Ideal location in the centre of Barcelona. Rooftop pool is an oasis in a busy city although can get overrun by trendy types sunbathing a and smoking cigarettes. Good breakfast in the downstairs restaurant. Rooms are good although can be a little dark.

Barcelona is not short on hotels that attempt to combine the essence of the old city with modern flair. Many just look shoddy but the Grand Hotel breathes gracious style. Retaining many of the modernist design elements of the city's golden years, each room has height and a minimalist decor chic. It's position gives you immediate access to barrio Gotico and the central shopping areas. You will have to have a photo taken on the spectacular rooftop overlooking the city although I would not make huge efforts to make breakfast in the restaurant alongside.

Spent four nights here after Xmas . Wanted to do all the sights , and this hotel very central . Cava and tortilla for breakfast perfect , then 2 hours lounging on the comfy sofas by the rooftop pool ,soaking up some winter sun . Then exploring I Barcelona ,what a fantastic city . Did the open top bus , both routes ...well worth doing , then sagrida familia ...just amazing . Lovely food at 'Cantina ' place just around the corner from hotel . Wandering around the narrow streets around the cathedral stopping for coffee and cake . A glass of sangria sat by the port . A stroll along the beach . Barcelona I loved you ..
Would recommend this hotel ,spotlessly clean , nice staff ,great position ,great breakfast .....the rooftop terrace with orange groves fascinated me ....who stays there ?? We will be back

the pool experience is awesome if that is what you want. a great respite from the energy of this fabulous part of town. the view is magical. the rooftop is a little more 'luxury' than the other similar hotels i dropped in on and its a funky, social, interesting way to waste a day in one of the best cities in the world. i couldn't recommend it more.
the reception staff are excellent, helpful and warm.
i agree with some reviews about the aspect of the rooms, but, if you don't intend to spend much time in the room during the day,the rooms are perfectly excellent. but i agree, if you are looking for a luxury lay about kind of room this is not for you. in this hotel you do this by the pool and in other common areas.
One complaint... despite being a decent guest over a number of days, i was told i couldn't break up my breakfast (for which i'd paid a considerably overpriced amount, as hotel prices tend to be) by having a quick coffee before i went for a run and then eat my breakfast when i got back ?
I'm sure this was simply the individual behaving badly and not otherwise indicative of the hotel, but others in the review have commented on the breakfast so i add that.

This hotel is simply perfect if you want a busy, proximate experience of inner city barcelona by day and in your downtime read a book or drink too much by the pool. In those circs its 5/5.

The restaurant downstairs is not all its cracked up to be but that is b.c the competition close by is too good so that shouldn't put you off.

I loved the place. i was travelling on my own but i noticed that it was kid friendly by the pool if you were travelling w kids.

I am returning to barcelona with the family because of this place amongst other more profound reasons.
