We had a wonderful few days at the Casa Camper last year, and despite the expense I would recommend it. Great location in quiet street off Las Ramblas, the 24 hour 'cafe' area is great - we had breakfast and lunch here both days at no extra expense - plus any number of tempting snacks whenever we were worn out. Take a tray onto the top floor area and chill out.
Love the green ethos of reusing water. Loved the decor - not sure about the mini living area idea (you get a private mini 'lounger' across the hall from your room) - maybe on a longer break you'd use the hammock area, but on such a short holiday we never really got much use of it.
Most of all it was a laid back atmosphere, no pressure or fussiness from staff - you're just left to yourself unless you ask for help.
Would love to return!

Casa Camper is a very unique hotel in the El Raval section of Barcelona, relatively close to the top of the Ramblas.

The location is great -- Raval is roughly equivalent to the Lower East Side / E Village of New York (many students, hip scene, etc.). The hotel is close enough to the Ramblas to make anywhere in the city an easy walk (Gothic/Born, Pl Catalonya, etc).

The hotel itself is interesting. The "rooms" are really composed of two separate rooms (divided by the hallway). The main room has the bedroom and bathroom. The second room is a lounge with hammock and desk and large framed wall-map of the area.

The bedroom has a flatscreen, safe, Tivoli radio (with aux input for ipod). Storage space is plentiful and there are some creative touches in the bathroom area. The lounge has another flatscreen and telephone. The whole hotel has free wifi. Surprisingly, there was turndown service in the evening. The best touch, however, is the free food/drink available 24/7 in the lobby (soda/bottled water - even redbull, snacks, coffee, sandwiches/salads, etc).

The staff is incredibly helpful and generally speaks excellent English.

We stayed at Casa Camper in mid-May. The room configuration with a seperate mini lounge worked out wonderfully for me as I traveled with my 19 year old son. We both had our privacy. The rooms were clean with many amenities. The staff was wonderfully friendly and very helpful with answers to all our questions. The cooked to order breakfast was beyond anything we've had in a European hotel. One day pancakes with Nutella!!!!!
Food available all day was definitely a benefit.
Location was excellend and convenient to Placa de Catalunya and all forms of transit. We loved Barcelona and the Casa Camper!!!!

Casa Camper is extremely well situated - near many main sights, La Ramblas, and the Placa Cataclun where buses to airport and tourist sights depart. The staff are very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable and offered tips on anything from their favorite sights in Barcelona, good shops, what to do when everything is closed, best way to get somewhere, restaurants to check out, etc.. My luggage was delayed for my first 32 hours and the staff offered to check in with the airlines for me a couple of times and sat on hold for an extended period of time to do so. Excellent service! The design of this hotel is a bit out of the ordinary but very attractive - the minimalist lay out makes for a very clean and functional property with luxuries where you want them like Camper slippers, king size bed, and a huge shower head. The complimentary non alcoholic beverages, snacks, and internet in the lobby were good to have in lieu of the usual mini-bar/pay internet. Breakfast was delicious and also included. The rooms are quiet despite noise on the street. I will stay at Casa Camper anytime I make it back to Barcelona and highly recommend it.
