Thanks reviewers! Definitely a great choice! Visiting Barca for a friend's wedding in the Gothic quarter, this hotel was the obvious choice. I've stayed in Barca several times before in the Rambla area but this hotel is streets ahead of the others. A superb conversion of an old building, well and truly sound-proofed and with fabulous facilities for a hotel in this position, it is hard to find fault with it. Possibly some may find the rooms a bit on the small side and rather dark. But dark is the theme of the hotel throughout and is extremely smart. Our room looked inwards onto a courtyard and directly into several other hotel rooms but that wasn't a problem - better that than having street traffic. Rather silly controls for the lights (letting the designers lose is a dangerous thing sometimes!) meant that you had to have both bedside lights on or off at the same time. But on the plus side, the rooftop bar area with a small pool and masses of lounging space has superb views all over Barcelona, and downstairs in the basement, the small pool has jet corners for getting out the aches after too much shopping in La Rambla. Breakfast is expensive at €19 but with so many fabulous cafes and the fabulous, famous food market next door, who needs it! Altogether a superb city hotel.
Booked this hotel following the reviews on tripadvisor - what a relaxing place amongst the chaos of Barcelona! Firstly, it is placed just off Las Ramblas. The reception area is just a fantastic area, with large windows, even larger leather sofas and friendly staff. We booked a superior room which had two sets of double opening doors looking over the city rooftops. The room itself was beautiful, wooden floors, comfortable king bed, large wardrobe. The contemporary
bathroom was entirely marble with a large bath and a separate shower cubicle (no light in there so couldn't be used though). Room service was excellent. We felt completely happy with our choice of hotel.
You must visit the marina/waterfront, its a beautiful area and so well looked after. Take the cable car from the mountainside to the harbour - eye popping views and photo opportunities!
We would definately return here - well worth the price.
Like most other reviewers here, I have to agree that the quality, comfort, location and style of this hotel are the best in Barcelona. The rooftop pool and cabanas are reason alone to stay here. Although it is getting pricey (the first time I stayed there a superior room went for 170E, now it's 300), it is still worth the cost for the quality you get. If you can afford it, do it!
Another very hip hotel 2 blocks away is the Casa Camper. Check my review there as well.
What a gem right in the middle of Barcelona, on the Ramblas. Its stylish, clubby look is an oasis of peace and quiet, in the bedroom, on the roof aside the pool or in the basement in the indoor pool and spa. This is top notch in every aspect. The beds are solid and comfy with a choice of 4 types of pillow. The safe, plasma and tea making all good touches and the bathroom luxurious green marble- the shower rose is the biggest I have seen!! Even down to the Etro toiletries, this is such a classy place!
Please dont got there, it might become even more popular and they will push the prices higher!!
I am going back!
