“Great little hotel, offers modern rooms designed and maintained to a high standard with a friendly and amicable service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012 via mobile

Our three nights stay at this cozy city hotel met our expectations and held true to the description and pictures on the website.

Our bedroom was of a good standard (4*) and included all the expected mod cons and facilities. Every room has access to the hotels free wifi facility which is always a bonus. The modern bathroom had a brilliant rain shower and was spotlessly clean. All toliteries were replenished on a daily basis with each clean.

Service was always helpful and friendly with absolutely no issue communicating in English. Wake up and taxi calls were made with no hiccups and without an exorbitant taxi charge/commission.

The hotel is about a 5-10 min walk from the city centre but had some good restaurants in the vicinity (I recommend the Italian two blocks down to the right) as well as a supermarket around the corner as well.

All in all it was an extremely comfortable stay and I'd recommend Hotel Constanza to anyone heading to Barcelona.

I'm just back from a 5 night stay with wife and 2 son ( both 16 ) . First of all let me say wasn't so easy to find a room with 2 double beds in Barcelona (at least at reasonable price). This is a very good choice. "Family room" was perfect for us. I prepaid the breakfast and i can say it was ok...buffet it's not a spectacular one but do the job. Location is fine...just 2 min walk away of Urquinaona Metro stop ( L1 red line& L4 yellow line)...just one stop from Catalunya Plaza and so right on the Rambla. Area is absolutely safe (in late night also)...staff is friendly and helpful.
Just a couple of "tips" : if you love a great Hotel entrance with wide desks and fountains THIS PLACE IT'S NOT FOR YOU. The hall is simple...not very large but nice.
Be aware there is some contruction on the bulding beside...giving a quick look it will last for something like a year or so....we didn't had any trouble during our stay...perfect sleep till 8 am...but the situation could change.
Overall really a good choice.

Just about to check-out after a 3-night pre-cruise stay and the Hotel Constanza exceeded my expectations. Here are just a few reasons to choose this hotel...
Location - in the heart of the city, just a 10-minute walk to Las Ramblas, Placa Catyluna and Pasieg de Gracias, but far away from the hustle and bustle to provide a quiet retreat.
Modern and clean - kudos to the hotel for delivering what they promise! Rooms are "spacious" for European standards, great shower with lots of hot water, great pressure and rainfall shower head. Comfy pillows, though beds in Europe are more firm than what I prefer. Room was cleaned on a daily basis and never even saw or hear a maid! A/C works so well that I had to shut it off at night. In-room electronic safe large enough for two laptops and iPad.
Service - most friendly and hospitable staff I have ever encountered in Europe! They all speak perfect English and were always willing and able to accommodate requests for things like an early check-in, late check-out, restaurant suggestions, an iron, transportation options, document printing, where to find a grocery store, a pharmacy open on Sundays and even a massage!
Free Wifi - works well with speed and ease on multiple devices!

Can't say enough - great value for Europe and I highly recommend this property! Ok, so a few nit-picky items - no soap dish in the shower, no iron in the room (though they offer them on request), and the breakfast might as well be included.

Thanks for a great stay, Constanza!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at this lovely boutique hotel. We are from Vancouver, and one of our concerns when staying abroad is cleanliness;no problem here the room and bathroom meet my wife's high standards. We were in room 302 which was a "superior" room I believe. The room room had a nice balcony but no real view of any thing but we were not in the room much anyway. Very quiet location a few blocks from Las Ramblas. As a side note I would recommend the Segway tour hosted by Edgar, it was a great way to see the waterfront area of the city. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

We stayed for 3 nights in family room 406, with a view over the street in front of the hotel. The location was perfect, a quiet street behind Passage de Grassia, away from the tourist hype, though close to everything. Staff at reception were informative and helpful, making suggestions for restaurants and then making the booking. We were delighted with the hotel our room was large enough to accommodate us and the bathroom was well appointed and spacious. The roof top terrace was a bonus. This boutique hotel is well priced with excellent staff and beautifully appointed.

We booked the Hotel Constanza for 90 Euros a night and were absolutely impressed with the hotel quality our entire week long stay. We arrived early to the hotel around 9am but the desk had no complaints about checking us into our two rooms before the 3:00pm standard check in time. The staff was super friendly and helpful when we needed advice on restaurants and transportation. This hotel also allows for guest so our friends that needed a place to crash for a few hours until their flights departed were welcome and they even offered to store the luggage. The internet worked perfect the whole time and was free to use on two devices (computer and phone). The room was very clean and updated nicely. My only complaint about the hotel would be the bed and pillows but that is pretty standard for us Americans traveling to Europe. Great location, just a short walk to Plaza Catalunya and several public transportation stops. I definitely recommend this hotel to visitors to Barcelona.

Despite all of the great reviews on trip adviser I was still apprehensive about booking a “TWO STAR” official rated hotel. Well! all of my fears were quickly laid to rest on entering this lovely little hotel.

Check-in was efficient and friendly despite it being the early hours of the morning. Our room was at the front of the hotel with a small balcony. It was bigger than we had imagined, spotlessly clean, cool & exactly as portrayed on the website. As we are not particularly needy travellers and were out and about every day so we didn’t have much contact with the hotel staff, we felt the experience was more like staying in a serviced apartment rather than a hotel, but that suited us fine. We had no issues with noise during our four night stay.

The hotel is centrally located, just a couple of blocks away and certainly an easy walk from Place de Catalunya where the main bus terminals are. This made getting to and the airport by the Aero Bus really easy and economical. We found most of the main attractions to be within walking distance of the Constanza except perhaps the La Sagrada Família church which maybe it wasn’t the distance that was the issue, rather the very hot August day.

I do travel a lot and I do have high expectations of my accommodation and I can honestly say I have stayed at 4 STAR hotels that do not match up to the Constanza. I simply don’t know where their 2 STAR rating comes from; I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to other travellers.

DO:
Treat yourself to a cocktail at the Constanza roof top bar – expensive yes - but well worth it.
Book a room with a balcony.
Take a sightseeing bus tour; it’s a great way to get yourself orientated and decide which sights you want a closer look at.
Visit La Sagrada Família church – it’s amazing.
Visit the national art museum – the views of Barcelona are breath taking.
Take a stroll around the Gothic Quarter

Don’t:
Dine/drink on Las Ramblas - it is much more expensive than in the other areas close by.
Be careless with your handbags - we saw two thefts in two days

Room Tip: A balcony room is a must
