My stay here was brief, consisting of one evening. I ended up here by bidding on Priceline for a 4 star hotel in "Las Ramblas North" area. Thankfully, I knew to expect a descent property, well situated and well-appointed.
The staff welcomed me and were extremely friendly, warm and hospitable. The definitely appeared sincere rather than just trained to treat the customer right. I observed really good work ethics and the possibility of them even being friends and truly enjoying their jobs.
The room was clean and had a coffee maker and nice flat-screen television. The bathroom featured a bidet and a nice tub to relax in after walking around Barcelona. I wanted a wake up call and nothing was marked on the phone as to how to reach the front desk. Maybe it was just my accommodation, but if this happens to you, dialing zero will get you nowhere. I would have never figured out to dial extension 100 to get the front desk. Wake up calls are by a human, not a machine and it was a very punctual wake up call.
There's been some writing about the air conditioning/heating system, which truly worried me. I was happy to see there was an individual temperature control and my room was able to get ice-cold, just the way I like it.
Also, there are writers that have stated the walls being paper-thin. Here's the deal: the walls are thin and I wouldn't want to be "loud" but it appears if you are a respectable guest, you shouldn't have an issue. I did not hear other conversations or televisions but I did hear housekeeping staff slam a lot of doors between the early morning and noon. That was pretty annoying but I'm sure management will work on this.
Location of the property was ok as well. It is located on the corner of Avenida Roma and Valencia, if you need the corner for a cab driver! I never had an issue and the property appeared to be well known by the few cabs I took to and from the property.
The only annoying thing was a city tax upon check out, which Priceline did not make me aware of, but that was only 1,40 Euros.
All in all, I had a nice stay and would definitely recommend this hotel based on its location, value and service. It's a solid 4 star hotel for sure.
