Description: The Ziryab Lounge is a cocktail and Shisha Bar, where you can try some delicious cocktails - both classics and our own special blends... And lay back and enjoy the relaxation. There are some small snacks such as olives, cheese bites, flavoured dips with pitta or quality cheese and ham platters. You can try a fruit-flavoured water pipe, the hubby bubbly or Shisha - with the available flavours of apple, mint, grape, banana, melon, strawberry... And lots more flavours. You can also try it with a shot of anis in the water or slices of lemon to make it more refreshing, and countless other options and combinations to make yours a fun experience. Ziryab is a great place to go before going out to dinner, or perhaps after your meal! It's open late, has great music and a great vibe, is perfect for couples on a romantic date or for groups, and don't forget to check out the sister restaurant, Ziryab Tapas and Wines on Carrer dels Ases No 16, just a 4 minute walk away!

“Really disappointed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

On entering the wine bar I loved the looked and thought great, staff were friendly. Menu is limited, it is only "Tapas" ordered a selection and a plate of cut of stale cold pitta arrived, then 1 tapas which was ok, then 10 minutes later another arrived, had to wait a further 20 mins after finishing for the last tapas to arrive? all the bread was stale, all tapas is cold and no long preparation required. The lebanese red house wine was good but again when you require a 2nd glass allow a long wait. Service is dreadful. My advice, serve wine & olives forget the rest it was like watching a sinking ship....sorry as you were really nice as people but everywhere else we eat was so much better.

Hello Elaine,
Thanks for your comment and I sincerely regret that you weren't able to have an enjoyable experience at Ziryab. I think you must have come at a time when we had many tables come in at the same time and - having a small kitchen and having many simultaneous orders for food and drinks - we were not able to give you the attention and service that we usually do. Being listed on Trip Advisor is a bit of a Catch 22 - it's great in so far as it allows travellers to find us in the small back streets of the Old City, but it's also difficult to be suddenly projected high up in the rankings because everything becomes unpredictable - number of customers, supplies to be ordered, and you cannot hire new staff (and thus ensure top service) based purely on Trip Advisor, since rankings change every week. It's a predicament, I admit! Also, we are only barely 6 months old, so we are still learning as we go and comments from you and others are really helpful. We are now getting into the rhythm of having a full house every night and I wish you could have been here one of the other nights - last two nights we had Persian poetry reading and the mood was wonderful, customers really enjoyed it and many tables were talking to each other by the end of the night and buying each other drinks. It is indeed a unique little bar with a lot of charm, as you mention, and it would be a shame not to be able to offer people tasty tapas to eat with their wine, so we will continue persevering to ensure that service is quick and bread comes out hot! Thanks again for your comment and please visit us again if you get the chance... second time lucky ;)

“Worth it's number 1”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

Tried this place since it was rated number in Barcelona and wasn't disappointed. Tricky to find but it is in a beautiful little side street and has a really romantic feel to it. We did not have a reservation but the staff were great and made sure we had a seat at the bar to have a drink while we waited for a table - and in the end we only had to wait about ten minutes. It was great to have this fusion tapas and all the dishes were excellent and made a nice change after a weekend of eating in many typical tapas bars. The dates wrapped in bacon were a favourite, as were the different dips - nothing too spicy but really interesting flavours. Place was really busy but the staff were really attentive and made suggestions about beers and drinks as they have a few unusual choices on the menu you would not typically see which added to the experience. Good value for money and they also do set menus to share which is a great way to have a taste of everything on the menu at a good price. Lovely little place with great service, food and ambient music, loved it.

“Great time eating at Ziryab!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

After touring through Europe for around 2 months, I've had some great food and Ziryab will give you some great food. It is tapas, so some dishes may not be perfectly to you liking, but you can always move on. I found at least 80% of the dishes innovative and tasty. What stood out to me was the level of service, love and affection that went into making sure every customer was absolutely satisfied. Being at number 1 may make some places jaded, with a thick stream of TA customers flowing in Ziryab could let quality go... But they haven't and I don't think they will! Ziryab offers very interesting tapas, a great wine menu, a romantic or casual/friends atmosphere with laid back beat driven music, all at decent prices (E45 for two with drinks).

“Loved it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013 via mobile

Went to this place on our 1st night in Barcelona and were'nt dissapointed. It's not exactly easy to find down the sidestreets but is worth the effort! The place is gorgeous inside, really romantic and typical Barcelona. The owner and waiter on the night were brilliant and very chatty, said they were'nt usually open on monday nights so we were in luck! Tapas food was nice and reasonably priced, our ample meal for two plus a bottle of red was around 50 something euro's. Would definitely recommend and apparently they do live music on a Wednesday...I MISS BARCELONA!!

Checked this place out on advice from trip advisor and was glad I did.. Food was excellent.. Service was outstanding.. So attentive.. Mojito's came with a warning from the barman..
