“Food was great but beware they charge for hot water”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

After enjoying recommended dishes by one of their team members, we were shocked that we were charged 2 euros each for our hot water and 2 refills for a total of 8 euros, marked as tea on the bill. When we asked, they said that they charge the water as if we ordered tea.

“a good concept”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013 via mobile

located just right on the placa spanya, busy place where you typically do not expect anything more than a tourist trap. very good friendly service, nice ambience and decore, Frank Sinatra playing, good tapas with iberico ham and also many sea-food options. only complain is kitchen smell, so my hair and clothes smeelt afterwards. worth a visit if you stay locally

“Authentic tapas and great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

Monja, a bistro-like setting, sits on la Plaza Espanya overlooking the busy convergence of major streets, Fira Barcelona and Parc Montjuic, so it is fairly likely that a tourist/visitor may be in this area. The menu abounds with tapas choices that will satisfy just about every palate. Our selection of los quesos nacionales (Spanish cheese platter), salmon Dominguez (salmon over potato sticks with an egg topping) and seleccion des jamones (assorted hams) was plenty for two, which we topped off with a reasonably priced bottle of Rosado. The affable, multi-lingual staff did its most to make our dining experience pleasant. Monja is serious enough to have its own jamones and expert carver on staff, while a small corner of condiments and wines to go add to the fun.
