“Clean, good value but not 4 star!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

Spent 3 nights at hotel in August, room clean as was most of hotel and it is not too expensive, but it is not a 4 star hotel! The staff at reception were either very good or completely indifferent to peoples' requests I do not know if they were short of staff but there was often a large queue waiting to be seen. We requested additional pillows (only 2 in the room) on a number of occasions both by phone and at reception, sadly they only arrived on the last day.
Agree the breakfast is good with plenty on offer, but there is no help offered by staff on what the procedure is on your first visit, nor if it is self or waitress service. The coffee out of the machine was cold and I was told to use the alternative nespresso machine, however after 3 attempts all of which failed, they admitted the machine could be tempermental!
The best way to get to the city centre is by bus, the stop is only a block away from the hotel and costs only 2 Euro's. The closest Metro, is a good 10-15 minute walk especially in the heat.
If staying and wanting to go to the beach ensure you take your own beach towels or you have to rent them from the hotel. None of the rooms appear to have a balcony so it can be difficult to dry swim clothes and towels after use
Also be aware that you will be charged additional local taxes on top of your room rate, not large but could be a problem if you were short of money at the end of your holiday.
There are a limited number of restaurants around the hotel and the beach area only has 3 restaurants which vary in quality and price.
I would say this hotel is perfect for the business traveller with lots of meeting rooms but limited social areas, I would not recommend it for families.

This hotel is excellent value, good restaurant, helpful staff, great location near the beach. Lovely walks. Large room with great views of city and beach, no noise at all, no road noise or from other rooms just peace and quiet. will visit again.

My wife and I stayed here for 6 nights, and we loved it. We wanted a hotel close to the beach and this was perfect - just a 5-minute walk across the road. Our lovely room had a great sea view. The breakfast was great, too - lots to choose from. The hotel is just 10 minutes' walk from the nearest Metro station (Poblenou), a similar distance to a major shopping centre, and around a half-hour leisurely stroll down to the Olympic Port. If you're looking for somewhere near the beach and a little bit away from the city centre, I'd recommend this place.

Room Tip: We stayed in a sea view room, which was great.

Staff are friendly, decor was OK, they have wifi but they change the password every 2 days which I can understand but also annoying.
The highlight was breakfast. Nice breads, fresh fruits, colds cuts, salads, and even cava! (Sparkling wine).
But we waited for ever for the elevators, it's super slow, and there are only 2 for the entire building.
Sure, I'd stay the again, but only because our office is nearby.

Room Tip: Might as well ask for a room with sea view, but keep in mind you have a major street in front so you...

I stayed here with a friend in September 2012. We weren't after luxury, but we were shocked at the state of our room. Mind you - this is a "4-star"-hotel, but it felt like we had a private room in a youth hostel instead. And I've stayed at better youth hostels at that.

The lobby is nice and modern, it's close to the beach and there's a bus stop right in front of the hotel. The metro is a 10 min walk and takes you straight to the city centre. There's also a shopping mall 10 mins walk away.

Our room:
The decor in the room itself (twin room) is basic but functional. Little attention to detail and money has spent on the room and it was blatantly apparent. Now on to the fun part: we had lots of bugs (cockroaches?) crawling in our room/bed. I requested another room, which we got (of the same soul-less standard - I think an upgrade would have been in order here). Better yet, the new room also had lots of bugs crawling in it.

Again, in a youth hostel or a very cheap B&B/hotel I wouldn't blink an eye at these - but a "quality hotel" ?

Here rushing for a business meeting for a one night stay. Excellent location few steps from the Barcelona beachty and perfectly organized for business hospitality that is clear architecture, easy going stay with wifi without complications everywhere (more and more in US top quality chain hotels they complicate with charges when you arrive jet lagged in the middle of the night), neat restaurant with outdoor seats, room of white and wood furniture without chemical smelling of linens (again as more often you encounter in US even top hotels). In other words, a kind of modern hospitality with a touch of Catalan Mediterranean flavor.

Really nice hotel close to beaches (just walk for 2 min and you can enjoy the sea), close to metro (Line L4) and also bus 41 (direct to plaza catalunya in 15-20 min). Excellent restaurants around this hotel and also very useful if you are sick, a big pharmacy is around. Free wifi and ask for a password valid only 2 days. Nevertheless, people at the reception are not friendly (no smile at all, just a OLAAAAAAAAAAAAAA) and should work for a funeral company, they are already wearing black ;-). Air conditioning in rooms and even in corridors is extremely poor, it is a huge problem. The only cool place is the reception so just ask for a bed close to the reception. Moreover, drains of the bathroom are all clogged so if they are no swimming pool in the hotel, you can make your own swimming pool in your room, enjoy it. At last even if you asked the staff to do something for the drain or the air conditioning, just forget it and save your saliva because nothing will happen. One other thing is the nice breakfast and deserves the price (12 euros) and please just forget the fitness center, it is too tiny.

Room Tip: To make your life better in this hotel during summer times, just bring your own fan to cool down you...
