“Not the place to go if you need sleep!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

The location and cleanliness of this hotel is all very impressive for the price you pay. I would however never stay here again as it was impossible to sleep! Our room was situated above some sort of bar and it was so noisy it was as if you were in the party. This could be an amazing hotel if they invested in some double glazing and sound proofing!

I can highly recommend this really funky, modern hotel for anyone wanting to save money but stay in a great location in Barcelona. It seems to have been recently re-decorated and is very trendy with funky décor and furniture in all rooms and common areas. We stayed for 5 days and our room was bright, clean and spacious with full length doors leading to a (very) small balcony. Clean towels and toiletries were provided daily for our en-suite room.

The location can't be beat (easy to find when following the hotels directions), 3 minutes from the closest metro stop – and just off Las Ramblas.
The hotel is down a small side street which leads directly onto the Placa Reial – a beautiful square filled with cafes, bars and restaurants and a lovely fountain in the centre. There is a supermarket and off licence at the end of the street and it’s just 5 mins walk to the beach and the Columbas Monument, Casa Batllo is 10 mins in the opposite direction. Then 20 mins walk to the Familia Sagrada and most of the other main sights.

The hotel looks exactly as per the pictures and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, central place to stay.

Plus side: Great location, right at the end of the Rambla, next to Placa Reial. Great trendy bathroom with the best shower in the whole world!!! The hotel in general felt very new and modern and clean everyday in all areas of the hotel. Very secure luggage room which needed electronic card entry and was free. The staff were VERY helpful and friendly and spoke really good English, nice people. Very good value (we booked through EasyJet holidays).

Downside: Needs tea/coffee facilities in the room. Bit of a dodgy area directly outside of the hotel at night. Be very aware of pickpockets and don't even speak to the sketchy men hanging about outside with beers. Unfortunately one night a band started playing in the hotel bar beneath our first floor room at 1am until nearly 3am so we were woken up and had trouble getting back to sleep. Ask for a room on a high floor away from the noise of the bar. Also our bed was very small and creaky too and the maid left our room door open one day for the whole afternoon!

Room Tip: Get a room on a high floor away from the hotel bar and noise from the street.

Very good value for money in a very central locations.
One thing I can complain about are the type of people around the area at nights. But that's not something the Hotel can improve, I suppose. Also, ask for a room that doesn't face the street.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that doesn't face the street.

Barcelona House is a comfortable hotel located in a favourable position just off La Rambla. A couple of things I believe should be addressed, there is no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms and the frosted door to the bathroom is very odd, it's see through!!! Having said this, the staff are excellent and the price of the hotel, very good. I can also highly recomend the restaurant opposite.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear are quiet.

We have stayed at Barcelona House from 27 dec 2012 to 1st jan 2013
Considering was a crowded time we didn't notice that much noise in the room...
The room was not big , but new, problably not enough forniture to put your things into...but anyway... It was ok. Bathroom was large and totally new and this is a very important thing to me! But no window in the bath.
The only window just face on the closed wall of hotel.. Some smell from kitchen and no lot of light.. (I suggest you to ask for a room with view on the street) But as we were on holiday we were always around and just come back to sleep ! The interior of hotel in restaured and refreshed. Modern.
I have to say that the staff was GREAT! Helpfull, friendly, polite, make you feel welcome and they are always ready for you in case of need. They make the difference in this hotel really.
I recommend it also for its location - walking distances to any important monument and the area is full of tapas and bars at night!
Good for its quality/price as considering we have been there for new year eve... Was very good rate!

We never expected the hotel to be as nice as it was given the affordable price. We were nicely welcome at the reception and the hotel room was very modern and comfortable. The location is bang in the middle of La Ramblas and within walking distance of everything. Given we don't stay out late the location (or maybe the location of our room) was a bit noisy as people stay out till 6 in the morning even during weekdays. Having said that I would definetly return!
