I stayed in this hotel from February 13th to 17th,2006.The staff are a little abrupt and not very friendly, but don't let this put you off...they warm up!!!Their English is very good. The hotel is in a perfect location on the Ramblas..It has a pharmacy, bakery grill room, off licence and lots of other shops next door to each other. The rooms are small but adequate, they do not have a hairdryer in the room but you can ask for one downstairs. The breakfast is from 8-10 and is wonderful, great selection...cereal, rolls, cornflakes , croissants, yogurts...The supermarket and a beautiful fruit market are just up the street on the left hand side..Go out the door to your right and head for the Quinze Nits Restaurant...(Plaza Reial)...very good value for money. We got 3 meals, 2 deserts, bottle of water, wine and coffee for 40 euros. Try the Fonda Restaurant on the other side of the street, it's just as cheap.Though remember, they do not open til 8.30pm and you have to queue...
Overall we liked this hotel, it was clean and ideal for any traveller on a budget. It can be a little noisey, but just ask for a room on the top floor. It is the Ramblas after all...a little noise is to be expected But the Ritz it's not!!!!We saw no drug dealers or prostitutes????...I felt very safe here.Enjoy!
