I have previously stayed at this hotel last year and was pleased with the service. We stayed in Barcelona again in June this year for the motorcycle grand prix and again booked the Auto Hogar, we were allocated a room at the back of the hotel on the first floor, which overlooked the service road to local bars and restaurants. the glass in the windows was opaque and the curtains hanging off the rail, the shower did not work neither did the air conditioning
The constant noise and I mean constant from Bin trucks all day and night, groups of young people using the road as a cut through at all hours of the day and night and the opportunity to open the windows about an inch meant extreme heat in the room at all times.
The service staff at the hotel pay no regard to the fact that you are a paying guest and add to the noise by constantly slamming doors and shouting constantly, I am actually english with a very good grasp of the spanish language and not deaf.
A request to move rooms was met by apologies by the staff as the hotel was full, I am glad we only had to endure this very poor service for a couple of days. Oh I haven`t mentioned the extremely rude and ignorant restaurant staff at the breakfast restaurant, one of whom came very close to being punched into next week due to his arrogant and ignorant comments to my wife, note to waiter dont speak in spanish mate when the english guy can understand you. Words were had with him and the management, in both languages
Barcelona is a beautiful city as are the majority of the people, but to describe this hotel as three star is completely unnaceptable, I have stayed in Hostals in this area which were cleaner, staffed by better more helpful staff.
This hotel is at best a one star rated Hostal and I strongly recommend you stay elsewhere. The choice is yours mine will be to avoid this place like the plague in future and stay somewhere that the staff value paying guests. I have contacted the hotel management with my comments and demanded a refund.
