We booked this hotel as it has easy access to Rambla and the Old City without the higher cost or noise associated with properties in those areas. Local tour operators did not consider this hotel to be in a good area but we never had a problem despite walking everywhere including past midnight.
The rooms had everything we needed. It would have been nice if they were a little larger. Breakfast was good considering the size of the hotel and there are other nearby choices to eat if you prefer. Parking is available next door which is a bonus because ground level parking is almost impossible to find in this city. The parkade is quite tight so be aware if you have a larger vehicle. The staff at the hotel were friendly, spoke good English and were very helpful. My wife left a ring in our room when we checked out and the cleaning lady tracked us down in the lobby to return it to her.

We booked the hotel because it was close to the city center and because of the discount offered. It was freezing cold there when we arrived. We thought that our 4-year old son would catch a cold right away (and so he did). The personel of the hotel told us that they had some problems with the heating system and were trying to fix it. So, the first two nights we had to sleep all together in 1 bed (king size), under two warm blankets. Although, we reserved a bigger room with two beds and a separate child bed originally, but because it was so cold, we did not want to move into that other larger room (we were originally put into the smaller room, because the room we reserved was not available on the 1st night!), in order not to let our son freeze alone in the bed. So, we kind of paid more, as we had to stay in a smaller room, although we paid for a bigger one. THe last night of our stay the temprature seemed to normalize a bit.
The pics of the hotel are much nicer in the internet than in reality. The rooms are quite small, ours had a window to a shabby industrial inner yard and there was a window in the toilet which could be opened to demonstrate the piping system of the hotel...

Stupidly thought iPads work everywhere (beginner) so didn't download a map of the Hotel. Flew in from Perth via Amsterdam, bus from the airport to main square and then had to ask many folk for directions on foot, but on arrival it was superb and a haven! Clean, bright, welcoming, lovely helpful staff with English. Room was comfortable and afforded us great, 3 peaceful nights sleeps due to our positioning in the hotel with a view from window into neighbouring property, so no street traffic. So central and so much variety right at your door and character of the old part is far better than new city style for our liking. Breakfast buffet was a great selection and set you up for the walks surrounding the hotel area. Amazed at how clean the streets are for such a flow of humanity.
Would stay again without doubt.

Room Tip: Back rooms provide outlook and peace for sound sleep

This is a lovely hotel, clean and staff are friendly. Good location to see everything we wanted to see. Looks a bit of a rough area but we didn't actually see any trouble. We had a room with a balcony which was great. Bathroom well equipped and spotless. I would stay here again. Lots of bars on the square outside the hotel. Bar Raval was nice to sit outside.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Was not so sure about the location at first as we took the bus from the airport but in the end we just figured as much to stay off the side streets. Especially at night! Friendly staff, elevator, fast wifi, ac that works and very clean! We did not eat here. Beds were a bit uncomfortable and it was a bit loud at night. But overall it was a good experience!

We said here one night prior to sail on a 12-night cruise. The hotel was great and the service fantastic. It was a group of 40 people and they handle us with care and patience. The rooms are a nice size. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was also updated and modern.

Our stay included breakfast which included everything needed to get a good start to the day. The food and fruit were plentiful and fresh.

The hotel is located just a short walk from Las Ramblas. It's close enough to walk anytime of the day and far enough to be away from the crowd. We even walks to the mall and key tourist sites from the hotel. Actually, we were only a ten minute ride from the port.

As a Travel Agent, I would book my clients here for a pre or post cruise or for a stay in Barcelona.

On the positive side:
1. Clean , comfortable, spacy rooms with smart bathroom and functioning air conditioning.
2. Helpful and well mannered hotel staff (we red about others' negtive comments on this, but did not come across with anything of the sort).
3. Breakfast: freshest, widest variety and best quality food amnogst the 3 or 4 hotels of similar stars that we stayed on this trip.

On the negative side:
1. Hotel is 10-15 minutes walking distance from the closest subway station. Stations in the city center are 20-25 minutes away once you catch the train.
2. Wi-fi reception is poor, connection is slow.

Useful tips:
1) The subway stops running at midnight; but the handy night bus service leaving every 20-minutes from the Catalunya square stops right around the corner from the hotel (name of stop: Park de Cervantes). It is a mere 20 minutes ride through the city, and saves the day (or night!) after a pleasent evening i the center.
2) There are no groceries or kioskes in close distance to buy even the most basic stuff like water. But the next door hospital has a cafeteria inside which sells food, drinks and a lot of other useful stuff.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms overlooking the hills; they have better view.
