We (4 friends) stayed at Residencia Australia for five nights in double rooms wit shared facilites. The location is fantastic, right in the center!! Thomas, the owner, was werry helpful and gave us a lot of tips about what to do and what not to do. Thank you for everything Thomas.
The two doubles we were in are rather small but that didn't bother us as we spent most of the day outside and only stayed in during the night for sleeping. The view from the balcony is great.
Showers and toilets are clean.
I would recommend this accomodation!!!!!

I stayed for 10 nights in Residencia Australia during the Christmas week of 2006, and it was a cosy and lovely hotel! Thomas, the owner, and his mother are really nice people - they were very helpful in giving me advice and tips and whenever I need help (especial thanks to the staff Alex who helped me a lot).

The price is really cheap (30 Euros, single room, shared bathroom) in my opinions, given that the location is so central, only 5 minutes away from Plaza Catalunya - and it's bascially just one street across the Universitat metro station.

What I love abt this hotel is also the fact that it's surrounded by lots of cheap-eat cafe/fast food shops in the university area. It's a peaceful but vibrant environment.

The hotel itself is neat, the bathroom is cleaned on frequent basis - as I was staying during the winter low season, the advantage is that you don't need to queue up for just a quick shower! But I would still highly recommend this hotel to travellers going to Barcelona in any months, any seasons.

Definitely a place to stay. The trip from BCN airport (El Prat) took about 40 minutes - taking the train and then the subway. About 150m from Barcelona's heart - Plaça Catalunya and Las Ramblas -, we enjoyed the open conversation with the owner.

Advised in advance of a small room, nonetheless we had a fully equipped private bathroom, and the room was thoroughly cleaned every day. We were provided a set of keys, in order to freely enter and exit the room, without having to check in or out every time we wished to do so. Also, there is a pay phone provided - and one can actually dial the owner's mobile phone for free, so shall you need ANY help, there will be a voice from the other side.

We were also provided tourist info, and a very big set of recommend tours to do around Barcelona, containing the monuments, places to see, and budget (& very tasteful) restaurants. We payed 65 EUR per night per room, so it was cheap (in my opinion) according to the occasion - december 28th - january 01. Shall I come back to Barcelona, will book back :)

Lovely, characterful apartment/hotel
Clean, central and with good air conditioning, fridge and tea /coffee making facilities!
Lifts take a bit of getting use to but work fine.
Thomas is one of lifes Mr Nice Guys. He spent an age describing the City , where to go and what to do (without being overpowering)
Will definitely return
