My wife and I stayed at the Residencia Australia Mid September for 2 nights prior to a Mediterranean cruise.
The place is very accesible to the Metro and Ramblas and just a block or so from the Plaza de Catalunya which I found very convenient. Thomas has 2 sites to rent one located I believe at 25 Universitat at the 4th floor and one at 11 Universitat,2nd floor. We stayed at the 'suite " with wooden floor,airconditioned,with a small refrigerator facing the Universitat,which I thought was nice and certainly larger than the hotel room that we had 2 years ago in Paris.
I suggest you use the ":suite "
I am not very familiar with elevators in these renovated buildings but they are certainly small.
My wife and I did have to wait for Thomas which was inconvenient (because we had arrived during his lunchbreak)
The transatlantic flight arrived late and rather than arriving at the Residencia at 1 PM, we arrived by Taxi from El Plat at 3 PM or so. The Residencia was spotlessly clean. Thomas was very helpful and even helped pulled our luggages to our room. He refused the tip I offered him. He allowed us to store our luggages after the checkout time. Fatima, the cleaning lady was very friendly and we left her a good tip.
Overall, I liked the place.
I love Barcelona despite my shock in finding a hand on my left pocket between Universitat stop going to P. de Catalunya.
Be extra careful when you are exiting the train with the crowd.
Barcelona is a fun city !!

Even before we arrived, we had problems. We were informed that we would have to switch rooms three times during our stay. Our friend cancelled her room and asked the owner to give it to us so we wouldn't have to switch and the owner refused. He lived up to his "by the rules" reputation when he very aggressively entered my room and screamed at me because I was checking out a few minutes late. We were never informed about the checkout time until ten minutes prior and then told to check out immediately, leaving us no time to pack. He informed us that we should have read the checkout time on the website. I honestly was frightened by his behavior and extremely offended by the treatment I was forced to endure. I am a very experienced traveler of various B&B's throughout Europe and never have I been treated with such disrespect and experienced a completely inept business owner removed from reality.

Stayed here for 4 nights and had a really good stay. Thomas did a good job of letting us know the sights and best place to watch the World Cup. The Residence is very close to Universidad metro stop and less than 5 minutes from Place de Catalunya. We stayed in the Residence for one night moving to the "apartments" for the following 3 nights.

Having been to the sonar festival we weren't getting back until 8am most mornings but the cleaner respected our privacy and just cleaned the bathroom. Although on a main road, there is no more traffic noise that a usual main road in a city and the dark curtains and shutters meant we could get a few hours sleep.

Would definitely stay here again.

I stayed in the Residencia Australia with my mother. We had an apartment that is a few minutes walk from the hostel reception. The location is ideal and suited our city walking holiday brilliantly. I would definitely stay here again.
