Amazing service from the day porter who pretty much made our holiday. So very helpful in finding any information we needed and was so friendly and welcoming.
The rooms were simple but clean and a nice place to rest our heads after an exhausting day walking the city.

Four of us spent six nights at H Top BCN City hotel and on the whole I would suggest this is an ideal budget hotel which is clean, friendly and suitably located for the Metro.

We had a hitch with a missing plug for the washbasin on the first day but was duly supplied with a spare on a visit to the reception desk. The room attendant had other ideas however as it was gone again by the following evening. After a bit of to and fro a new plug was finally brought up.

Room was not cleaned on the penultimate day, so we had to go back down at 10.30pm to collect clean towels and toilet roll - not a major problem although we were on the third floor so was a bit of a pain at that time of night.

The front of the hotel has good views onto the street and for our teenage girls travelling with us, it was light and airy but if you are at the back of the hotel don't expect anything more than a view onto further apartments. In addition the room walls are very thin, so snoring, talking, sneezing and coughing - even bathroom sounds can be heard between the rooms. Don't expect to find a hairdryer or tea/coffee making facilities. A complimentary bottle of water in the room would actually have made a good alternative to this, though I do realise it is a budget hotel.

On a plus, the beds are comfortable, the showers work really well, rooms were clean and well presented on arrival and the reception staff were all very friendly and helpful, especially when there were a couple of things that needed sorting. They were even happy to print tickets we had purchased online and on the first day took the trouble (without our request) to find us information on the options for family tickets for use on the Metro and buses.

Breakfast between 8am and 10am was always good, with more than enough options to choose from, including hot food, cold meat platter, fresh fruit and pastries.

The Sagrada Familia is only a 10 or 15 min stroll down the hill and is a pleasant walk with plenty of bars and restaurants around. We were also surprised at how close we were to Parc Guell!

All-in-all, the hotel met the requirements of a 17 yr old and a 20 yr old very well. As long as they had a comfy bed and a clean room with a decent view they were happy! A bit noisy but not to the extent we couldn't sleep. I would recommend the hotel on the basis that the staff are superbly helpful and accommodating and it is so close to many popular areas to visit in Barcelona. For those areas that are not within walking distance, public transport is easily accessible from this base.

My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel for three nights mid March during a short holiday to Barcelona. The hotel was all as expected, no real surprises (positive or negative).

The location of the hotel was good, one minute away from the Hospital San Pau and a three minute walk to the corresponding metro station. We regularly walked down the road to the Sagrada Familia station instead (15 mins), as that had some more convenient connections. We also walked to Park Guell from our hotel, which took ~50 mins.

The room was sufficiently sized, but fairly dark. There were two single beds, which was not specified at booking. This wasn't the end of the world though and we were able to push them together anyway (only fell through the gap in the middle once haha). There weren't sufficient sockets, since we put one out of use by moving the beds together.
The shower/toilet were clean, although it wasn't the best shower- it was a very thin spray and you couldn't prevent a lot of water ending up on the floor.
There were some toothbrushes with toothpaste, and some little combs in the bathroom on arrival (however the toothpaste wasn't replenished each day so don't feel you can get away not bringing any), and there was shower gel and shampoo also, which was replenished daily.

Breakfast was served 8-10am, and was a great buffet with various foods and drinks. It did seem to vary slightly between the days as to what food there was, but generally there were cereals, fruit, sliced bread, baguette, jam, various pastries, chorizo, bacon, scrambled egg, tomatoes, a selection of cold meats and cheese, yoghurt, cakes and biscuits. I'm sure there were other things that I've forgotten.

The staff were professional, and served us on arrival and check-out effectively.

The price was ~£50 per night when we went, and I can't really say whether that's good value for Barcelona as I've not stayed anywhere else there to compare. However, we were satisfied and felt like we certainly got our money's worth in breakfast :-).

Overall, this was a good, clean and inexpensive hotel (not the cheapest on offer, but also far from the most expensive) with a good breakfast and competent staff. I would recommend it for those going on a similar city break.

Sitting waiting to check out whilst writing this. Me and my boyfriend have spent four nights here whilst in Barcelona for the Manchester City champions league game Vs Barcelona. The hotel is clean, cheap and in a really good position. The receptionist (I think his name was Dani) went out of his way to be helpful - even ringing RCD Espanyol to find out the tour times for us when we said we wanted to go. Don't be put off thinking the hotel is out of the way. It's literally a 6 minute (I timed it) Metro journey. You need to change trams but once you get the hang of it, it's really easy. Loads of restaurants near here too as well as little supermarkets and bakeries, all much cheaper than eating at Las Rambles. Great stay - we will be back

Me and my boyfriend have just returned from Barcelona , we had an amazing 4 days away, we stayed at this hotel and it was clean and the staff were really friendly. When we first got here we thought it was out of the way and abit of a random place to have a hotel, but it was fine once we got our bearings .
The hotel is literally a 5minute walk from the Sagrada Famallia were you can get easy transport into the centre ( playa Catalunya ), we paid for a 2 day open bus tour which I defiantly recommend we did everything within the 2 days and you can get on and off the bus at all the stops and it stops at the Sagrada so its just a few minutes back up to the hotel.
The hotel staff were really friendly and spoke good English , they have is a city map and circled tourists things to do and which areas not to go to .
I couldn't fault our trip it was a really good budget city hotel.

Very friendly hotel. Staff were helpful of where things are and if we needed anything they were only to happy to help. They even helped my 11 year old with his Spanish. Breakfast was okay. Room was small but nice everything we needed, maid service everyday. The only down side is the walls are thin and you can hear the people in the next room but to be fair it cant be helped. I would defo stay here again and I have recommended to my family to stay here in the summer. The hotel is in a great location easy to get around the city. The Metro and bus stops are also nearby but you can also walk to Sagrada Familia which is only about a 10 minute walk.

we stayed at this hotel in our final day at barcelona. it has a good position and it is easy to find. senora Alba, from the reception is very kind and helpfull. unfortunely, for us, in the morning that we were to leave there was no power in our room, so no light, no tv, no nothing. when i went to call someone to resolve the problem, i got the promise that the power would be on immediatly. but no one has came to solve.as i said we were preparing for the airport, very early in the morning so we needed the light.finally we made it, with our mobile phones lights. anyway, i hope it was an isolated issue, so that no one will get the same problem.

Dear guest, thanks about your comments about our staff and hotel. We are sorry about the problem with the light, it was an small problem with the electricity, but it had to be repared by a person that wasn’t available on night shift. Early, on the morning was solved. Thanks again for your comments, we hope to meet you again in your next visit to Barcelona.
