The location is disappointing - a fair way away from the centre of things and sightseeing points in Barcelona. Closeish to a metro station, but if you are out late you will need a cab.

Poor selection of restaurants in local area.

The room was nice, air conditioned, clean and modern.

We were given misleading information regarding drinks at the hotel bar - ended up being charged a fortune for two drinks.

The water and soft drinks etc in your mini bar are free, as are drinks from the little fridge at the front of the hotel bar after 11pm.

If we go to Barcelona again we will definetly look for somewhere closer to the centre.

I stayed here whilst attending a conference nearby. The location is great, only a short walk to the Plaça d'Espanya metro station, which connects to just about anywhere you'd like to go in Barcelona. It was nice and quiet also.

The breakfasts were great, as was the free mini-bar (especially since it was warm when we stayed there).

For two people, the room was much smaller than we are accustomed to, especially for a hotel rated at four stars. The air-conditioning didn't work very well, so after every shower there was water dripping from the walls in the bathroom, and the bedroom was humid also. Also, there were no ironing facilities in the hotel, the only option was to send stuff out for professional cleaning.

The staff were very nice however, and extremely helpful.

We just got back from 2 nights in Barcelona at Vilamari and we were very happy with our stay. Here's a breakdown:

Room- The room was very clean and modern facility. Wifi in the room (which we didn't use) nice bathroom, and a nice bar/restaurant area but we didn't eat there. they looked they had parking too. The mini-bar was FREE and included soda, water and beer- a very nice perk after a long hot day! The bed was also the most comfortable bed we've ever exprienced in a hotel and it was very quiet which was a plus!

Location- Between Espagna and Rocafort metro stops which is very convenient to get to place catalunya (la rambla)- about 3 stops and other areas of the city. we liked that the hotel was not in the most touristy area because those tend to be noisier and we were in a nice quieter area but yet close to those areas. Also it's a great location to get the aerobus (about 2 blocks) for the airport since it stops first at place espagna, then catalunya and for about 4 euros each way- really fast and easy! Espagna also has a Bus touristic stop which is the doubledecker bus that shows you the whole city- overall a perfect location for us!

Barcelona tips- The bus touristic gives you a great overview of the city plus you can hop on and off- our favorite sites were the Sagrada familia (didn't climb to the top though because the line was 1 and 1/2 hours), the Boqueria market (unbelievable fruit, veggies, food!), and the Picasso museum. We also spent an afternoon at Bogatel beach and it was fabulous- clean water and great sand- a little crowded but hey it's summer! We loved the tapas and don't be afraid to try different ones! seafood and grilled meats are also great but avoid the tourist traps on la rambla- except for Egipte on number 79 i think on la rambla which is fantastic and in our guide book!

Barcelona is an amazing city- enjoy!

We recently stayed at the AC Vilamari and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is well located near Placa Espanya (5 minute walk), which is the hub of most public transportation. The hotel's neighborhood is less touristy than Las Ramblas and the Barri Gotic, but the Montjuic area is a brief walk away. The hotel's location is a great alternative to the more densly populated areas around Placa Catalunya.

The hotel rooms were comfortable and modern. The room's bathroom and its shower were the best I've ever experienced in Europe. The room had a small refrigerator with complimentary drinks, which is a nice treat after a day of sightseeing.

The AC Vilamari is a great starting point for cruisers. The port is about 15 minutes away by taxi, which cost us about 20 Euro. The hotel staff was very accomodating in securing transport for us to the cruise port. All and all the AC Vilamari was a great place.
