We recently spent 3 nights here at the end of nearly 6 weeks touring through Western Europe. When we arrived late at night after flying from Lisbon we were given a very warm welcome despite the late hour. All through our stay the reception staff were delightful and very helpful. We didn't realise it when we booked but the hotel is located on a very busy street with heavy traffic even late at night.
We had booked a larger than standard room and were on the third floor near the back of the hotel facing onto an alley. While this must have been quiet compared with rooms on the main street frontage, we found the double glazing not particularly effective compared to all the other hotels we have stayed in on this trip and had to resort to earplugs. This was made worse on the first night when the catch on one of the windows was broken. To the hotel's credit this was fixed the next day as soon as we mentioned it. We could also hear the rumbling of the metro. The other problem was the aircon. We are normally far too hot with the bedding provided in hotels and have to request something lighter. In this room only a light blanket and sheets were provided (which would normally be perfect for us) but no matter what we did with the aircon controls we couldn't increase the temperature without turning it off and having a very stuffy room. It took us 3 nights of being cool to work out there was a problem so we didn't get a chance to get hotel mangement to sort it out for us. The rooms were nicely furnished but it would have been helpful to have filter curtains for privacy as our room looked straight into offices on the other side of the alley.
The roof top bar was lovely and has a great view. Breakfast was as good as any other hotel we have stayed in on this trip with a good variety of food.
Overall, we probably wouldn't stay here again, although I would love to come back to Barcelona, because of the noise. We would probably choose a hotel closer to the main shopping and restaurant areas. However, if noise doesn't worry you then it should be fine
