“Like a trip to the past”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

I was fortunate to stay in El Born for 5 days on my last visit to Barcelona. I could live and breathe the atmosphere of the neighborhood. Many charming restaurants, many small boutiques, cool people. The El Born is a place to experience the city. Walking through the small streets, visiting the Church of Santa Maria, the Museum Picassoe know the dozens of small restaurants, shops culinary spices and typical products of the region.

“A nice area with shops and lots of places to eat and drink. But not to touristic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013 via mobile

Ah, a great neighbourhood to stroll around. I remember Barri Gotic was like this, but is to touristic now. El Born has got the local armosphere I like. I wonder how fabulous it will be when it's warm enough to eat and drink outside!!

“Artsy Area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

Even on a cold and rainy day this was a fun neighborhood to walk around. Best to get dropped off at the Plaza Santa Maria del Mar. Several restaurants and shops around the plaza leading to the Cathedral. Close to the Cathedral is a very good wine bar called Vinya del Seynor. After a walk around the Cathedral take Calle Argenteria off to the left for many more shops, galleries, and restaurants. The shops and galleries have many interesting and original art works and local crafts. Easy to spend a few hours just strolling these several blocks and investigating all of the boutiques. After this it is a short walk to the right up Via Laietana to the Mercat Santa Caterina which is a wonderful, colorful open air food market. The display of fruits and vegetables is amazing along with meats and various prepared items. Pleasant way to spend even a bad weather day.

“Lovely old "sizzling" neighbourhood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

Love the old streets and its vibrant atmosphere. Look for exciting new designers in little shops, authentic tapasbars, a wine bar, museum of Picasso ect. Less known but not less loved area!

El Born is a good location for walking around Barcelona . With the work being done into it's past it is going to be a fascinating place to visit in the future.
