If I remember correctly, I heard about this place on tripadvisor. I'd consider myself to be a foodie, but certainly not a food snob. Kiosko burger was fantastic! I was thoroughly impressed with everything. Located just off the Barceloneta Metro Stop, it was the first port of call for myself and my travel partner before each night out no less than twice on our 4 day trip. The burgers here are so good and have such a cult following that the queue will stretch out the door, anytime of day or night.
It's more of a dining experience than just a good burger joint. Be prepared to wait as much as 45 minutes to order and receive your burger but I'm sure the queues are shorter at off-peak times. Personally I think the wait adds to your appetite and builds your anticipation. Ultimately, I enjoy it more because I'm made to wait for it. Waiting is part of the whole buzz of the place. Your sitting there watching everyone else eat, waiting for the kitchen door to open with your glorious burger on a plate.
They provide "order slips" for you to peruse and fill out while you wait in the queue. When you get to the till, you hand over your slip and order any drinks you might want and you're given a ticket number. Take a seat and wait to be called.
The menu is uncomplicated but full of simple, well combined flavors. Personally, I can recommend the Japenese (teriyaki, wasabi mayo, tomato and onion), the Asturian (blue cheese, caramelised onion, tomato and spanish onion) and the Burgos (lamb burger with goats cheese, roasted peppers tomato and onion). You can customize the burger the way you want them and they have a choice of wedges, chips, garlic potatoes, saucy spuds or salad as a side. You can buy beer, wine or minerals with your food too.
The service is friendly and fun. The restaurant has communal seating layout with a large central table, further seating around the outside of the room and some higher tables/stools also. Be prepared to sit beside, (and get talking to!) strangers from all walks of life while you wait for and then eat yourself to happiness. They make their own range of 4 sauces, all of which I can recommend trying. Plain tomato, Spicy tomato, sweet mustard vinegarette and I forget the last one! They also have a house chip salt so you can season your fries (and burger) the way you want it. They operate a self-clearing policy, which everyone seems to stick to without issue.
The only negative I would have is that the tables needed to be wiped down more regularly while we were there during peak times. Salt/sauce can be a hazard to your clothes if your not paying attention to whats on the table. This is a minor glitch though.
I cannot recommend this place enough. If you're in Barcelona and anywhere near it, it's absolutely worth a detour. I guarantee you'll be back the next day for another!
