“Great owners, great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2011

I arrived a day late after a flight cancellation but Orlando & Manuela at Pensio 2000 were as accommodating as ever despite my delay. This was my first visit to Spain, I felt at home immediately. Any questions I had as a newcomer they answered. A limited but diverse breakfast is offered for a small charge to begin your day and the coffee is delicioso - something for everybody. The computer on site came in very handy including the printer. Orlando even helped me with Barça tickets for a game sold out. Maybe I was 'special' but that is just how they make their guests feel.

The location can’t be beat. Public transportation is readily available and much is walk able. A lovely area close to good food, shopping, and cultural attractions while the Barcelona ‘vibe’ is just close enough without being intrusive.

I’ll be back and keep spreading the word. Thanks for everything!

This is a great pensione. We stayed for a week in late June 2011 and it was perfect - just like being at home. Definitely NOT like staying in a hotel, which is exactly what we want. Orlando and Manuela and the rest of the family are very welcoming and helpful. Terrific, central position and great breakfast. There's a climb up two flights of stairs to get to the place, but it's worth every step.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony over the street.

We just returned from a fabulous trip to Spain and spent our last evening in Barcelona. We decided to stay in a B&B instead of a hotel - but a hotel would have been much better. The hosts were ok, as previous reviews stated they are not overly friendly, but not too bad. However, when we checked in we were told of many rules. Especially regarding noise - and how after 8pm we needed to be very quiet as the entire house went to bed. We were in room 6 so we had doors to the terrace (which we were told not for our personal use) - but siince it was warm, we had the door open. We were specifically told to keep our voices down as we might have someone call the police on us if we talked too loud. This actually proved very ironic seeing as we were awoken at midnight by the neighbors loud voices and conversation that kept us up until after 2 am! I was wondering where the police were then!

Also worth noting, this is listed as a B&B, but breakfast was not included - it was an additional 5 Euros if we wanted it - and even then we needed to order the evening before. Reading the reviews of the breakfasts we chose to eat out.

In general, if you are just looking for a place to lay your head at the end of the day, I would get a cheap hotel. If you are looking for a B&B - look elsewhere. In fact, I am not sure what type of traveler this place caters to except some guy trying to make extra money.

I have staved at Pensio 2000 many times and have enjoyed every trip, even more so since all the rooms are now ensuite (the bathrooms are really good) ,with sound proofing and televisions in the rooms.
The location could not be better, right in in the heart of the city, opposite the wonderful
Palau de la Musica Catalana, with a music school below providing a variety of sounds which will add to your experience.
Saving the best for last, your hosts could not be better. Orlando & Manuela will give you
all you need to make your stay special. They understand the city they live in & the wishes
of their visitors.
Pensio 2000 is an essential part of anyone's visit who wants to find the true Barcelona.

I agree with other reviews. This pension is in a great location and the rooms are charming and spotless. I loved listening not only to some of the concerts from the Palace of Music across the road at night, but also to the children practising each day (there is a School of Music on the floor below). The owners were very nice and helpful.

Great location next to Palace of Music, can walk 10-15 mins to Rambla ( we always took our time), to metro (5 min), Aerobus(10min), tapa bars, cafes and tons of shopping all around.... two nights a choir practiced on the floor below us, and it was beautiful! Sounded like angels singing!
I felt like I was staying at a friends apartment... owners are friendly and helpful. breakfast is meager, but convenient. But be careful of coffee reorders- they charge per cup!
No elevator, and one must walk up three tall stories. .

Room Tip: Most have views of the Palace of Music!

This hotel was in a central area within walking distance to major sights and shopping. Owners were friendly and rooms were small but sparkling clean with high ceilings and bright lighting. Our room overlooked a pedestrian-only street and in general it was a quiet place. They have wifi for 1 euro a day and also a computer connected to the internet for 1 euro per hour (honor system with a jar). Not super luxury (beds a little stiff) but they provided all the essentials plus little extras (bathrobes and a free water cooler in the hallway). All in all an affordable, convenient and nice place to stay.
