My friend and i stayed four nights in this hostel. It was very clean and the staff were extreamly helpfull and friendly. the hostel is on the top floor of the building. The sighn is not huge and i walked pased it the first time. It was only a five minite walk from where the Airport bus drops you off. You have to buzz to be let in the first time, but once you check in you have a key. The first 3 nights we had a twin room with double doors opening into a courtyard and the fourth night in a much smaller room. it was worth the 10 euros more for the bigger room, especially because in the smaller room the bathroom door did not close properly with can be a bit weird if you are not a couple and don't want your friend to hear you pee!!. i loved the main sitting room in the loby. it was filled with tourist books to look through and free internet!!!!! Airconditioning was a definate plus in this hostel. There is water, tea and coffee in the shared sitting room too. Across the street was a nice little cafe with very reasonable prices for breakfast(coffee, pastry orange juice) be aware that further down the street we payed much more$$ so ask for prices before ordering! we made the mistake of assuming it would be simmilar to the other one we had tried(sorry can't remember names) Check out time is 12 so go ahead and sleep in after a late night! If you are traveling alone this probably would not be the best place to meet people as the few people we bumped into using the sitting room were either a couple or already traveling with friends, on the other hand if you are looking for some peace and quiet you definatly will get it at this hostel. our rooms were very quiet. overall a great experience with this hostel. I feel it was deninatly worth the money.

This place is great to stay at. It's location is perfect - close to public transport (and airbus to airport), shops, Las Ramblas, everything! The decor is modern and very nicely done.
We stayed for 3 nights in a double room with private bathroom and our room was serviced everyday. The room size is adequate and and clean with air-conditioner. Beds are comfy - pillows are slightly flat but there's plenty of cushions.
The bathroom is very nice but you need your own soap and shampoo. There is a hair dryer provided.
The staff are extremely nice and helpful and will provide you information on sites to see and restaurants that locals visit. They are also available early morning until late night.
As your room doesn't have a tv, there is a very relaxing and nice common living area with free tea, coffee and water. It also has a large flatscreen tv with pay tv channels. There is also free Internet as well.

Out of all the places we stayed at during our holiday around Europe, this has to be my favourite (and one of the cheapest).

Hostal Goya is located over a couple of floors in an old building near Placa Catalunya - the location was great. I was a bit dubious at first when we first got to the entrance - the sign was not obvious (we actually walked past it at first and had to turn back) and the building looked old and dark and not very appealing. But don't be put off - it was great once inside.

We stayed in a double room with bathroom. The room looked brand new and everything was sparkling clean. The bathroom was tiny, but functional, new and very clean.

Free internet access in the common room was a bonus. The lady who greeted us at reception was super - she marked down the attractions and recommended places to eat on the map (and all the places she recommended were delicious).

The only thing I would recommend to future travellers is to check that the room they are booking isn't near reception - our room was the closest to reception and the front entrance and although it wasn't overly noisy, we could hear the reception phone ring and people talking and coming and going at times.

Overall, 9 out of 10.

Just great! We stayed here a couple of days ago, with two of our friends and my little sister. We booked early, but all the rooms were booked out except for two twins which were two beds in a line! We still booked, and when we got there we were pleseantly surprise, they have done an amazing thing! The two beds are really good sizes and during the day look like fabulous lounges. Very comfortable to just have a rest!
Our friends had a bathroom, whilst we had a share bathroom, which was very clean and never in use when we needed it. AND we were supplied with luxurious bath robes so that we didn't need to run to the bathroom and back in our night clothes.
Both floors were lovely and furnished quite differently, though both very modern. Both floors had a lounge each which had an area where you could make a hot drink, which on Sunday morning we all did, and jumped back into bed with our cups of tea! My parents stayed closeby in a more expensive hotel - because there wasn't enough room and that hotel WAS AWFUL!
The staff coudn't do enough for you, and after holidaying in France, even spoke to us in French when we slipped up!
We all felt very safe, the position was really good, the street is really good.
Breakfast we got across the road - hot drinks were good, but maybe pass on the pastries. Diagonally across on the corner is a great salad bar, though we didn't go in, it looked really wonderful. The staff recommended we go to a tapas bar 5 minutes walk away - and it was fabulous!!

We had a great experience here, the rooms were clean, modern and well-maintained, with a bit of flair. It was peaceful place to return after one of those marathon Catalan nights out; we never heard any noise from outside the room. The staff was extremely helpful and someone was always on hand and happy to answer questions or offer advice about places to eat or things to see. The location is hard to beat, a block from the metro and a couple of blocks from the Placa Catalunya. The free internet in the common living room was nice as well.

Overall, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better place for the money. If you're looking for a four star full service super hotel, look elsewhere to spend hundreds of euros/night, but if you'd like a small, comfortable place that feels like part of the neighborhood, with knowledgeable and helpful locals at the desk, you can't go wrong with the Goya.
