“Very Classy !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

Located on the Rambla, we were very happy with our choice.

We had just arrived from Valencia, took the metro, and a short walk were there. we had booked our room months in advance and were quite satisfied. We had asked for a quiet room off the street, and that is exactly what we got. This is a high end hotel, very nice!

Location is well situated, all places we wanted to get to were easy to reach.

A beautiful building right on La Rambla. Walk to the Market of la Boqueria, Barcelona Cathedral and Plaça de Catalunya. Take the bus from the airport to the Plaça and walk to the hotel. I liked the 9 Euro breakfast. The staff was friendly and very helpful.

Room Tip: We used booking.com to make our reservation.

Stayed three nights there in Apr 2013.
Good points: very convenient location on La Rambla, a few min from Catalunya Plaza
which is the main transport hub of Barcelona. A supermarket across the
road, Boqueria food market 3 min away and plenty of eateries nearby.
Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Decent breakfast and price.
Free wifi and snacks. Bed ok, room and bathroom clean enough.
Good security. Refurbished not too long ago and has a nice facade.
Not so Good: room is on the small side with no view and rather expensive for a 3* hotel.
It seemed that is the standard for central Barcelona.
Will recommend this hotel for a no fuss and convenient stay in Barcelona

Room Tip: Rooms at the back have no view. Front rooms face La Rambla but can be noisy.

We stayed 3 nights in the Montecarlo in April and were very pleased with the room and even more pleased with the helpful service we received from those working the front desk. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable. The electronic shades controllable at bedside were a nice touch. The only downside was that the room temperature control was not very responsive. You can trust the staff to give you good sound recommendations on restaurants and sights to see.

My wife and I spent 6 nights at the Montecarlo hotel in Barcelona. I don't want to repeat all the positive things hundreds of reviewers have written before. They are all true. I'd like to focus on the problems we had and the courteous and charming way they were resolved by the staff at Montecarlo. I've made the reservation for our room 4 months before our planned arrival. Unfortunately, due to a last minute strike of our Israeli ailiner, we had to postpone our arrival at the hotel by one day. We announced the hotel by e-mail and they courteously responded that they will not only save the room for us, but they will also not charge the penalty money they were entitled to according to the reservation conditions. We arrived at the hotel at 10 AM. The guy at the reception desk presented us immediately with the key for our room saying "we understand you had a tough time and we've already arranged the room for you". So, we received our room well ahead of the agreed time (3 PM), and had the chance to relax and start our visit immediately after our arrival. What a wonderful start!
We had a late hour (11 PM) departure flight. So, on our last day at the hotel, they offered us a special room they have, equipped with a shower, a desk and all you need to refresh yourself before a flight. Free of charge, of course! I'm sure that if they were not fully booked that day, they would let us keep the room we stayed in during the week. So, we were able to return to the hotel from our last day visit in Barcelona at 6 PM, take a shower and change cloths and leave the hotel at 8 PM, relaxed and happy.
I strongly recommend the Montecarlo hotel for everybody. You just can't go wrong with this wonderful hotel and lovely staff!

Must be one of the best located hotels in Barcelona .... right on La Rambla and close to all the action. The staff were the best of any hotel I've stayed in over the last few years - unfailingly polite, helpful and charming at all times. Our superior room wasn't the largest I've stayed in, but it was clean, comfortable and well-equipped. I would definitely recommend this hotel as a perfect base to stay when visiting Barcelona. Well done all!

This hotel was excellent, exactly what I expected, but first I’ll explain the title. One of my favorite things about Barcelona is La Boqueria and one of the best things about the Boqueria is getting breakfast there. You can read about it elsewhere, and the Pinotxo Bar, but consider one of the finest features of this hotel to be its proximity to La Boqueria.

We never tried the breakfast at the hotel, but I trust the other reviews that give it good marks. You should know that barring an exceptional situation, like the Hotel Schweizerhof in Zurich, I always suggest eating breakfast away from your – or any – hotel, to reap the benefits of new experience, new people and perhaps new food.

Our room on the fourth floor overlooked the Rambla. Since you have to walk out to the too-tiny-to-sit-on balcony to see the street, it’s not that awesome a feature, but speaks to the fine location and provides an easy way to check the weather. Importantly, the room was very quiet with the door closed, except for soft rumblings from below, and very dark with the full length shade drawn.

The bathroom was fairly large with a Jacuzzi tub, which had an overhead and handheld shower. Except for the bathroom and bedroom there was a decent closet and decent storage and altogether little wasted space. The glass around the tub didn’t completely obscure the bathroom from the bedroom, but this is pleasantly different, not uncomfortable at all.

The staff was great. The location, as you already know, is awesome. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else in Barcelona.
