“Absolutely perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

We loved our five nights at Primero Primera!
It was a great introduction to Barcelona for my fiancé and I and it is situated in a very cool, upmarket suburb.
Rooms were neat as a pin and decorated to perfection.
We enjoyed the honesty bar on the ground level, the mini bar in the rooms is totally complimentary, and the tea and coffee facilities inside the room was great too.
We went on to stay at a different hotel in Barcelona for the remaining four nights of our trip and were kicking ourselves that we hadn't stayed at Primero Primera the whole time.

Room Tip: The attic room that we stayed in, A4, was great

My husband and I stayed at this gorgeous hotel for 2 nights before heading back home from our honeymoon. First look from the outside, I was already in love. Hotel is not in the tourist area but was only a 5 min walk to the metro and about a 15 min ride to Catalunya (main tourist area) without having to change trains. We actually prefer staying a little outside of town to get away from the noise and craziness.

Walking into the hotel, first thing you smell are the fragrant peony candles that they are burning. The decor throughout is very rustic and cozy. The perfect way to describe them, "Restoration Hardware", which we are big fans of. The front desk is very helpful, even helped us buy tickets to the La Sagrada Familia on the spot and printed the tickets for us. We arrived at the hotel early in the morning do they held our luggage for us in their luggage room since check in was later in the afternoon.

The front desk also walked us around to where their facilities are and that also blew us away. Beside providing refreshments for guests 24 hours a day in the refreshment area, which includes fruit, snacks, soda, tea, and a Lavazza espresso machine, they also have an iMac in the middle of the room, a small library with lots of travel guides and books, AND a large room filled with cozy chairs and sofas with coffee tables for guest to relax and read/hang out. I was sold just seeing the first level!

We got lucky and was able to stay on the 5th floor which this the attic. Coming out from the elevator, we walk into a beautiful open space with open top and some chairs and sofas laid out for only the attic floor to use. What I loved most was they repurposed wood pallets and put a thick cushion on top to use as sofas. We spent our Sunday hanging out at the hotel and reading in the attic, since everything was closed on Sundays. The room itself is spacious and very rustic but modern bathroom.

Best hotel ever, pricey, but a perfect way to end our honeymoon. I would love to come back and stay here again. I am so impressed with this hotel I am putting off packing and writing this review as we speak!

I read a very long review for this hotel on tripadvisor prior to doing much research for other hotels in Barcelona. This review convinced me that I wanted to stay here. Initially though, the only rooms available were above our price range. However, rooms became available, and while they too were a bit above what we normally pay, it was worth it...moreover, the hotel, when asked, offered a small discount.

Upon entering this hotel, the smell was wonderful...relaxing. The staff were so attentive and responsive. I had emailed with them prior to our trip and they responded to my requests and, in addition, found us a room for a few dates later in the week when initially they were booked. They were so accommodating in that they upgraded us without an additional charge and subsequently, upon request, moved us to an room on the top floor or the "attic" as I had requested a quieter room. This hotel, in general is quiet anyway as it's away from the touristy and busy area of downtown Barcelona and in a residential area. It is a walk to major sites, but if you like to walk, it's no problem...about 2.5 - 3 miles. Or, you can take the train and the staff will guide you. Or, a taxi is about 15 euros. But, if you're a walker, or active, the walk is quite nice!

While all rooms are, mostly quiet, some face the street (which is not busy and again, residential) and such rooms have double-paned windows. But, if you prefer even greater quiet, request a room in the "attic". I found it so peaceful and like a little enclave that I enjoyed returning to after a day of exploring Barcelona. Very cozy rooms and the hotel, in general, is inviting, warm, and peaceful.

The staff, again, were so helpful. The evening staff even offered to prepare us some breakfast to go since we had to leave for our flight at 5AM, a good bit before the buffet breakfast would open. Regarding the buffet breakfast, it is set in the "bar" but it is a lovely, parlor-like room with an outside patio. A lovely place to eat and enjoy the fruit, eggs, cheese, croissants, bread, yogurt, coffee, tea, etc.

If I could find a quiet, accommodating hotel like this everywhere, I would stay there.

Room Tip: If you want the most quiet rooms, try the "attic" or top floor. A7 was a great room. Cozy...

We recently stayed at the property for 4 nights and had a wonderful stay. We could not fault anything about this hotel so here are the top 5 things we liked the best.
1. Staff were very accommodating and extremely helpful and knowledgable.
2. The property was tastefully fitted out and a soothing 'retreat' after stomping around Barcelona for the day.
3. Breakfast was delicious. Although the range was not extensive the quality of the produce was exceptional.
4. Easy access to public transport made it very handy.
5. As a travelling family with a young child, the location of the property in the residential area of Tres Torres was fantastic - lots of children's parks, beautiful tree lined streets and peaceful.

Thank-you Primero Primera for a wonderful stay.

The Primero Primera thoroughly deserves the excellent reviews it receives. It never tries to take on the appearance and facilities of an international 5* hotel, and thank goodness for that. There are no great views over a sparkling sea, and the centre of Barcelona is a tube ride away, but what they do offer, and more importantly the way they offer it, more than compensates.

Reception desk is of modest size but homely like the rest of the hotel. There isn't a receptionist always on behind it, but a contact number of the internal phone system is always displayed if unmanned. Upon arrival, you are welcomed and personally taken to your room and shown around the hotels facilities - something the 5* boys often fail to do! We were given a voucher valid for 2 glasses of cava and a some cake to be enjoyed any tine during our stay. The hotel is well maintained and there is off street parking for anyone arriving by car. The garden and pool are modest in size, but commensurate with the size of hotel, and a good place to relax after a day in Barcelona. The contents of the mini-bar are complimentary, as are other soft drinks and simple snacks in a room with a PC off in the comfortable lounge.

Set in a residential area, there are good restaurants and bars within 5 to 10 minutes walk, but they can take a bit of finding. The benefit is they exist to serve the locals, and this is reflected in the price and quality of the food and drink they offer.

We found the Barcelona underground a bit of a nightmare to navigate (it is not uncommon to have to resurface to change interconnecting lines, and sometimes even to change direction within a station) with the consequence that mistakes are easy to make, and I'm sure we ended up paying for journeys we never made! Fortunately the cost per journey is cheap if a carnet ticket is purchased. I mention this as the underground is definitely the best way into central Barcelona. Fortunately there is a direct line to Catalunya Station which is the central hub of the underground system, and is situated at the top of La Rambla. Use Sarria station rather than Les Tres Torres station, as it is easier to get to (turn right coming out of the hotel, walk to the end of the road and look to your right) and not all trains stop at Les Tres Torres.

Unless you fancy tackling the vagaries of the underground system and hauling your cases a long way I would also suggest taking a taxi to the hotel if arriving via the airport (about 28 euro)

Located in a leafy neighbourhood, a few blocks from the underground metro. There is a bit of street noise during the day (and each night around midnight the rubbish truck arrives, !!!) but generally quiet. We had a 4th floor suite & it was just great, very spacious and nicely furnished, carpeted and with a very nice bathroom. Comfortable bed, large TV, free mini bar in the room, pleasant view from double doors across a balcony to the hills. Downstairs there is a lounge with plenty of reading material, tea/coffee and pastries, and an 'honesty bar' with pretty much any drink you could want, ... just mix it and record your name, - nice touch. Breakfast (incl. in tariff) was fine, although no hot food and the same each morning, - but still fresh and good quality. Staff were very helpful with good English language skills.
We ate at one of the local restaurants and were not impressed, so purchased a 10 trip metro ticket (E.9.80) and travelled into town to eat, - this was easy and fast with trains every 7 or 8 minutes, and gave a big range of choice. We can recommend the restaurant Baccos which is upstairs on your right after you come out of the underground at Catalunya and cross the road into La Ramblas.
In short, Primero Primera is one of the best, we were sorry to leave.

We were very tired when arrived at the hotel in the morning on 09/10/13 around 9AM local time after long 14 hours flight from LA with 2 hours stop in Toronto. We just wanted to get some rest/ sleep ( For us it was around 1 AM morning and also we didn't have good enough sleep the previous night, since we had to wake up 4.30 AM to catch our flight). We knew that the check in was after 2 PM. The front desk lady whose name if I am not mistaken is Beatrice was very nice and apologized several times that the room was not ready since it was still occupied and the check out time is 12 noon. We decided to leave the luggage at the hotel and to take a walk to spend some time. However, we couldn't walk long since were very tired and walked back to the hotel and found outside small, but nice sitting area in front of the hotel to get some rest. Beatrice noticed us, since it was close to her office window, walked to us and apologized again and asked if she could help otherwise. Shortly after she walked back to us again to inform that the previous guest was "already getting ready" for checking out. She kept us updating until about 12 PM to tell that the room WAS READY. It was very nice of her.
We stayed 4 nights and LOVED our stay here. Not only Beatrice, but everybody else was courteous and very attentive. I want also mention the restaurant lady Susana. The breakfast was included if I am not mistaken from 7-10 AM, but the next day I woke up late and walked to downstairs about 10-30 AM and noticed that the restaurant was still open. As soon as I walked in to ask if i could get a cup of coffee, Ms. Susanna invited me in and offered the full menu for the included breakfast (Even though there was nobody else inside and they were busy with cleaning). Not only this, after finding out that my wife was still sleeping after very tiring night, she prepared a big plate for her.

The breakfast is great quality. The room was nice, clean and the shower was spectacular. The neighborhood was very nice and only two blacks to metro/subway station.

It was not the most expensive or the least expensive but we felt that I received a great return for the cost. Would go back.
